Subject: T-stat Change IP: Logged
Message: I installed a Jet 180 t-stat,Jet stage II chip, K&N FIPK2,3923 plugs, and a cat-back exhaust. As recommended by speedtweaks and most of you on this message board.
I drove around and it got very hot. The fluid level was fine. Do I need to bleed the system (if so how, ie engine off/on and how long)? Its an 02 4.7L.
Someone help...Pleas

Message: Ok, I have two Daks with the 4.7 motor, both have the 180 T stat, only my 4x4 has the Jet stage II . did you drill the 1/8" hole in the T stat so it looks like the stock one, the stock one has the check ball, did you reinstall the new T stat in the correct direction? The motor should not be getting to Hot. what does the needle say on the temp gauge? does the electric fan kick on also? I need more info. Did you burp the system by removing radiator cap when radiator is warm, NOT HOT?

Message: I believe the problem is resolved. Evidently the cap was loose and that must have caused the problem. When I started the engine after the installation, my buddy loosened the cap to add fluid and did not tighten it. The gauge went all the way in the red and the warning light came on.
I didn't drill the hole that you mentioned. Will that cause a problem? The temp gauge isn't numbered it just has C and H. The needle stays just between 1/4 and 1/2..if that makes sense.
