Subject: Headers IP: Logged
Message: I know you get what you pay for but when I ordered my flowtechs last week I did not realize they were that crappy. I am on a tight budget, but I plan on sending the headers back as soon as I get them after reading the discussion on them. Can someone please recommend my best bang for my buck(I have a 99 5.2 SLT x-cab). I dont want to spend $500 for a set of headers just because they look good. I am more concerned with the fact that they dont leak. If I need to make some modifications for them to fit, I can live with that. The pretty factore is not a concern at all.

Message: I am going to give Hedman headers a try. You can get them from Summit for $245. They are part #

Message: I'm using Edelbrock 6664 headers on my '99 318 - they are mid length , 4 into 1 headers and come with a 2 1/4" Y pipe. I got 2/10's and 3 mph in the 1/8 with traction problems. They cost $350 from Summit.

Message: first of all i do have a 4.7 dakota cc but i also have 2 old chevy's and i have never had a set of headers that fit perfect from my experience there's no such think as headers that fit perfect, but it is possible to use TWO sets of gaskets to fill in the place where they leak -just my 2 cents-.

Message: The JBA header is good. JBA has a nice design, they try to make the tubes equal in length. Many manufacturers have very unequal tube lengths, which can be seen with the last tube being extremely short. Currently, no makes an equal length header for the Dakota, but I think JBA's design is the closest.
I'll be getting some JBAs!

Message: I have JBAs on my 3.9 and they're great - I believe it's
mainly due to the thickness of the flanges. I'd like to
get them for my 360, but they are expensive! I'll
probably go with Edlebrock or Hedman.
