 Subject: Spark Plugs and Fuel Economyh

Does anybody know of a sparkplug that can increase fuel economy? I know everyone is promoting the autolite 3923's, but do they increase mpg? What about splitfires or NGK v-power plugs, has anybody tried these. Are they better for fuel economy? I am looking at changing my plugs in the next couple of days and would like something that could increase mpg.

Personally, I have tried many different brands of plugs with different gap settings and don't believe there is a plug out there that will increase mpg. With the incorrect gap, you can decrease mpg though. I did find with my 99 3.9, the underdrive pulley set(crank/alternator) worked well I gained a little better than 1 mpg. Also, if I kept the tach under 2k most of the time(very hard to do) I would get another couple mpg per tank. Thing is you have to drive like a granny and can't go over the speed limit on highway, lol. Get a tonneau cover if you don't have one, that helps alot with highway driving. Don't bother with high spark ignition systems, big waste of money. Catback flowmaster and K&N intake did not change my mpg but sounded cool(which often decrease mpg by constantly mashin the throttle). I didn't try it, but supposedly with the 3.9 if you get rid of the engine fan and use an electric, your mpg should go up 2-3 mpg.
Good-luck in your search for better mpg and hope my information saves you the money I wasted it! lol.

The best way to get the best fuel economy with
your spark plugs is to make sure that the gaps on
all plugs are correct, also torque your plugs so
that they disipate the heat like they are
designed to do.
Using premium wires will also help.
