Thanks for the link Jerry.

I wonder of all that hype over the GM piston slap is for real?

WHat's funny is that Corvette Z06 is one bad mother having a carbon fiber frame and 400 HP.

Now Ford took their Mustange Cobra and made around 400 HP and it get's into the 12's too from what I hear but for thoasands less and it has a back seat!

It almost makes me want to get an F150 to see if you can get nearly 400 HP in those and have a DAILY driver!

Keep me informed on the 4.7 mods and maybe I'll stick with getting a Dakota since they seem to handle a lot better from what I hear.

The 6 speeds were actually slower than the automatics in the Camaros and Firebirds. The reasons were:
1.Traction
2.Using the TractionControlSystem only made them slower because it would limit the power being delivered to the rear wheels.(not sure about #2.Any info appreciated.I'm modding a WS6.)

buddy jones, I don't know where your sources are, but that info is pure BS. I've had the chance to run against and drive many LS1 powered SS Camaros, and I've never had an auto beat me by any stretch of the imagination. Hell, if I ran against any Dakota with my same mods but it was a stick, that dude would whoop me pretty good (drivers being equal). Man, don't post BS like that. It really annoys those of us who know cars/trucks and run some of them for a living (OK, maybe a second income).

dude you got that backwards... its the auto with the traction control system (moms car has got it, so does my automatic alero). But i do believe that the autos are faster than the sticks. But that is just my opionion from what i have seen.

sorry, man...didnt want to offend you...youre not one of the ignoramuses around this board, and yea, your 1/8 mi times are quite impressive, let alone for a 6 cyl...anyway, all i was trying to say was that when my mom drives her car, she gets much better gas mileage than when i do...thats all..nothing implied, no hidden messages...and if ls1's really DO get that kind of mileage, then i am insanely jealous. end of story

autos will be faster then a stick if the driver of the stick isn't good. autos are what they are automatics you don't shift they do. even if you shift the auto it, you can't screw up grinding gears, miss a shift, or if the driver doesn't make the shifts quick enough. a stick will be faster because of a couple reasons first the gears ratios are better there is 6 instead of 4 so the gaps between gears aren't as much. plus there is no slip in the stock convertor gears to gears have the better power espicially top end. just my .2 cents open to any arguments or comments. note some cars have a different rearend ratio depending on tranny that can play a big part.
