Subject: Powerdyne in November for 4.7???? IP: Logged
Message: I just spent a good while on the phone with a tech at Powerdyne. They installed the kit on the 4.7 yesterday, and have been out driving it all day today....
He said the truck screams now. They are experiencing some rich conditions running the FAT 38lb. injectors on it, so they switched to 30lb.'ers. They said it still acted like it was a bit Fat on the high end. He said they should have it right with a 27-28lb injector, but overall the truck hauls ass. They have the prototype on a 5-speed.
When I asked when it would be released, he said hopefully in 45 days or sooner. He said to call back in the middle of November.
Powerdyne will be a great lower-buck approach to 13's for the 4.7's....
Hair-Dryers for the MASSES!
I will be able to install too, saving money on the install. I didn't feel like I could tackle the Kenne Bell.
Give'em a call....Tell them to prioritize the R&D to get them out ASAP.

Message: C.W.
That was me that tried getting the Paxton through SpeedTweaks. That was a couple of months ago, and from what I gather, they have the kit ready to release.(per Paxton's web-site)
I'm looking at Powerdyne for 1. AFFORDABILITY
2. silent drive system has proven reliable,to me anyways. ( used to have one on a Mustang )several club friends with them as well.
3. Easy install. ( don't have to move intake, TB, linkage, etc...)
4. Won't have to send computer in.
5. Upgrades are available
6. Don't have to tap the oil-pan
Not knocking any of the other systems out there, they (Paxton,Kenne Bell) offer good kits for the 4.7 from what I hear.
I used my $4,000 before that I had saved for the supercharger to put with our down payment on our new home. So $3,000 or so for a Powerdyne just looks better to me right now. Plus I'll save the $500 install charge.
I had nothing but good fortune with my Powerdyne before. I know there are other people who experienced some problems with them, but there are also a lot of complaints about Paxton,Kenne Bell, and ATI. Just depends.
Different strokes for different folks, but I'm getting blown one way or the other.
My piece.....next

Message: Yes it is a personal choice for sure. Just kinda perfered the gear drive. Bernd had good luck from what I saw.
From what I have seen and heard the KB is a good supercharger but gets hot easily. With a centrifugal you can easily add a intercooler.

Message: Notch, remember when I told you about running into the guy with the 4.7 Quad Cab and 5-spd combo with the Kenne Bell? Ran into him last nite at Auto Zone again, and he has sent the KB back for its SECOND rebuild of the head unit. He thought something was wrong, pulled the head unit off, and there was oil all in the engine block valley and the firewall, etc.....
And for all you die-hard KB believers, there are quite a few guys on jeepsunlimited.com (in the SpeedFreaks forum) that have lost entire engines underneath that shiny KB blower. Something is definitely fishy. There have been (i think) a total of 6 motor failures (all of them 4.7's) documented over there. Ouch.
And none of the failure victims have been too impressed with the KB customer service, either.
Now, I have no forced induction, and I don't speak from experience, but I am personally waiting to see how this whole Paxton kit works long term on a 4.7 truck. I'm pretty convinced that Paxton's purchase of Vortec is a good thing.
Not to say that I've given up on mimicking Duner's turbo set-up......

Message: Alex,
Yeah Man, that would suck to blow a motor with 15,000 miles on it. I am going to do the install, but I definitely will drive it like a baby until I get it to the dyno. Where I'll let the boys at Redline Performance handle the tuning.
With a good tune, plenty of fuel, hopefully the internals will stay internal.
I'm not looking for an 11 second truck, just some extra oats to munch on when I get hungry.

Message: No Redline here in Augusta....They opened shop here about 6 months ago. Daniel Newman is the tuner there.
Atlanta chassis Dyno...Nice place....Just too far to drive, when we have one here in Augusta now.
Our Club Aiken/Augusta STANGS went down there a while back ago.... I was the only one in the Mustang PARADE cruising in a DAKOTA...Don't tell any of them I told you, but I made some of the 96-98 GT's feel BAD...hehehe
I sold my Mustang, so they had to adopt a foreigner...I told them I could tow their butts home from the drag-strip.
I'll be pawning the farm to get a '03 Cobra when the Dakota is paid for.

Message: Its pretty much the same way up here.... I hang out with a bunch of guys from the Walhalla/Seneca/Westminster SC area, and it's either Mopar or Ford. Can't think of ANYBODY in that group that owns anything Chevy. Not even a tow vehicle.....
What's funny is that I've been going over to Team Ford in Marietta (close to my job) to get dyno'd. They are the largest dealer of Saleens in the Southeast or something like that. So even I don't go over to ACD.... plus Team Ford only wants half of ACD's price for three runs.... $65 with tax.

Message: D
They are available now according to Paxtons web-site. Truckperformance.com, superchargersonline.com, and speedtweaks.net all have them listed.
Speedtweaks has them listed for the best price, at $3,700.00
Don't know anybody that has installed one.
