 Subject: belt no fit???

i went and got belt for no a/c for my truck to bypass the a/c i have so i get more power. But the belt doesnt' fit. I doublechecked the part number and i routed it like the label says for no a/c....you know the dotted line view....and it just won't reach. Autozone didn't even carry one.....i had to get this one from napa....#070885 which is for a 94 318 dakota w no air. Do i have to do something with that little idler pulley in the center that does nothing or does anybody know the right part number to get.....please tell me what i'm doing wrong.....thankyouthankyou

When you are trying to put the belt on are you moving the idler down with a ratchet. Use a ratchet wrench to pull the idler pulley down and see if the belt will fit.

hmmmm.....i tried.....it just seems really short for an odd reason. Also doesn't seem like the belt will rub from the top of the water pump pulley to the bottom of the idler pulley. Seems like this little pulley is not needed anymore however it is still in picture where is shows rerouting it. I don't get it

I'm sure it needs to go over the pulley when installed. The pulley keeps the correct tension on the belt.
We are talking about a serpentine belt, right..?
If it wont fit when bypassing the A/C pulley it must be the wrong one.
