Subject: Warranty questions IP: Logged
Message: '99 Dak V6. The engine light just came on today. It seems to be running a little sluggish. I can either idle or run open throttle, no in between. My question is will I run into any warranty problems with my aftermarket mods i.e. jet chip, JBA headers, throttle body spacer & KN generation II intake. Anyone please help, I can't hold off teking it in the shop too long, do I need to pull the chip and the spacer?

Message: Well, I have no first-hand experience, just general knowledge from my research. Denial of warranty because of modifications can only be if it is shown/proven that those very modifications caused the problem. If you put on a supercharger with XXX lbs of boost, and blew your head gasket, that'd be suspicious. Now, since your problems sound air and fuel delivery related, and your changes include air and fuel delivery mod's, you could be a candidate for warranty denial. If you change your chip, who is to say you leave behind the problem? Maybe the problem lies within the chip?
Good Luck

Message: I would take that chip off at the very least. AS a matter of fact it just might run better without in which case you have a problem with the chip. It wouldn't be the first time.
