Well I might be getting a 92 Dakota Sport on Monday with a 3.9L. What is the best exhaust to get for trucks while keeping it quiet. Do most of the manufactures that make Mustang parts make stuff for Dodge trucks, and do all of the same concepts still apply? I have a 92 mustang which I have been working on for 3 years. I'm starting college this summer and I need a truck to take there. Keep in mind that I need the best bang for the buck since I graduate in June and then start college, plus I'm working on my mustang also.

Thanks guys.

Gibson is your best bet. Nice sound but not annoying. And dodge is your best bang for your buck.

Anyone else?

This board seems kinda slow compare to others I have been on.

I would say first full exhaust system (JBA Headers & Gibson Cat-back), Short throw shifter (Hurst for a 5-speed), Cold Air Intake, Throttle-Body, ASP Underdrive Pullies, & a Gear with Lakewood traction bars. Then work on the suspension!

'98 Sport 3.9L 5-speed 3.55. Custom CAI, ASP Pullies, Traction Bars.

Hey Newguy,

I'm fairly new at this as well, and think part of the reason response has been quiet is that not much is available for '01 qc....yet. Much will come, I'm sure. This board is a great place for info, input, etc. Enjoy the truck, and let us know what mod's you're up to out there.
I'm about to order the Gibson catback myself, and waiting for cold-air, pcm stuff to be developed. Using a bedrug liner, and quite happy with it. Doesn't do much for performance, but great on the knees.

The truck is a 1992 Sport V6 with an automatic.
I was kinda hopping that I wouldn't get into the same situationas my car but now that I found this site I see all kinds of stuff to do.

My car has:
Ford Motorsport Cobra Intake
Ford Motorsport 65mm Throtle Body
Moroso Cold Air Induction
Ford Motorsport Shorty Headers
MAC Off-Road H - Pipe
MAC Cat Back system (soon to be just dumps)
HPM Subframe connectors

Waiting to go on:
Cam
76mm Mass Air Meter
24lb/hr fuel injectors
New valve springs & push rods
1.7 roller rockers
Underdrive pullies

Now it looks like I'm gonna get into the same thing with my truck. And while I'm still in high school it hard enough to come up with the money. Ohh well at least the truck isn't 4x4 too.

New Guy, I noticed that you have the Mac setup on your stang.....sorry were talking mustangs guys but it IS about performance. How does the offroad H and the flow path sound? I had the bassani x on my cobra with the mac catback and had a bad tone as well as an afterfire in the exhaust from unburned fuel. Let me know your thoughts as I also have a new 2000GT with the Mac from the 97.

Also, Dodge magnum engines are easier to modify than the mustangs. Larger engine compartments and fewer parts to change and are simpler in the long run. Parts are a little more expensive and sometimes hard to find but are definitely worth it. Also, you will love the torque you can generate with the V6 or the V8 if you find one you like. If you can, find a nice V8 especially if the V6 you are looking at is an auto. V6 Autos can be dogs because some came with teh 3.21 rear axle and aren't neck snappers. Find a V8 with the 3.92's and you are talking some serious fun but stick with the 92 and newer. More power and multiport injection. Hang in there for now and by all means ask questions.

Mustangs are fun but you need something to tow it around right?!!!

2000 QC 4x4 5.9 Black, no mods.....yet!!

I don't really like the MAC sound that much but I don't have the money for a new exhaust again. I'm thinking of just running dumps, I know a couple guys with MAC mufflers and turn downs and it sounds 1000% better.

I did get the dodge. It's a 92 auto with a 3.5 rear end gearing.
