Subject: Viper rockers in our engines IP: Logged
Message: Will factory stock 1.7 Viper rockers work in our V-8 magnum engines. I heard somewhere that they would and others say they won't.Considering that the V-10 is a 360 with 2 more cylinders, what's the verdict? If they will work, what else would be needed-pushrods,longer studs, etc.

Message: Dave, the viper is a OHV engine just like the 360/318. if it was a OHC it wouldnt have rockers
TlmR, im sure the rockers would work, but why would you want viper rockers? you will pay more, and have 2 more rockers than needed. just get the dakota kit

Message: Thanks for the info, the reason I was asking was that the factory Viper rockers are 1.7 ratio and you can get them individually for only around $8.00 apiece and they're made of steel. Which means a person can save $200.00 or more and still get tremendous performance and also get the taller valve covers needed

Message: Actually, the 4.7 is an OHC engine w/ rockers. The cam presses on the middle and uses one end as a pivot point instead of pressing on one end and using the middle as a pivot point.

Message: Yep, Tim's right!
Its about $8 for the rocker, arm, and seat.
$128 for 1.7 roller rockers is damn cheap.
Can anyone confirm its a 1.7 ratio and if it will bolt to a Magnum head? CW, Bernd where are you guys?

Message: They're not roller tip, and not 1.7s...
I sell Crower rockers for both Viper V10 and Magnum 3.9/5.2/5.9 Motors.
Buying 'Viper' stock rockers and thinking you'll get more HP is like saying a RT TB will perform better than a TB from a standard 5.2L Dakota.

Message: I wouldn't care about the roller tip, but if they are not 1.7:1 then they must be the same rockers that are in the LA motor already. Somebody should check the part numbers, if they are the same then there you go, if they are different then there must be some reason. The roller tip is just candy in my book, I'd love a set of long lasting stamped steel factory rockers just with the 1.7 ratio rather then the 1.6.

Message: Just found out that the viper does use the same 1.6 ratio rockers. I wouldn't be surprised if the part numbers are the same for an individual rocker. It is a popular mod for the Viper guys to add the 1.7 roller rockers for added lift just like us. So I would say no gain here. Maybe if I get new roller rockers I can sell my stock ones as Viper rockers and get more money!
