Ok, I'm probly not thinking right, it's late.
if the 5.2L = 5.9L
than does the 4.7L = 5.7L?

I was just wondering, does anybody know if the heads off of the 5.7L will bolt up to the 4.7L?
If so, theroredically if the combustion chambers are deeper, you could run more boost, right?

Do you see where I'm going with this? I haven't heard too much about the 5.7L components.

from what i remember the 5.7L is not a overhead cam engine, so it would not work. i have HEARD the hemi heads will bolt on to the 5.2/5.9 though.

this is all hearsay i dont clame it to be true, but just what i have heard. maby someone else can shed some light on the subject

The 5.7L is a pushrod engine. The hemi part is what makes it more efficient. It should have a different stlye of pistons than the 5.2 or 5.9 as well to make the hemi part work right. Can't bolt to a 4.7 though. Would have been very cool if the 4.7L had been a hemi instead of almost a hemi. The jerks.

the 5.7 is a derivative of the 4.7, like the 3.7V6 is the 4.7 with 2 cylinders chopped off. I don't know anything else regarding the 5.7. Good luck.

OHC engines tend to have a longer crank-top of valve cover distance. A pushrod configuration allows for a much longer stroke, and as a side effect a shorter timing chain.

The hemi has a hemispherical combustion chamber with thespark plug right smack in the top of it.

This would require a DOHC setup with the cams on either side of the plugs, I would think.

Neat idea.... and four valves per cylinder? Hmmmmmmm....

hey Dave,
the 426 Big blog was a hemi and it was a pushrod motor. the new 5.7L hemi is a 16 valve motor (2 per cyl)

I still can't get over that they didn't go with a modular motor. I figured that the 5.7L would follow the 3.7L, and the 4.7L..oh well

that's what I heard to

car-truck.com is a good site for stuff like this

if you do a search on the 5.7L hemi over there it'll tell ya everything, they know. The best part about their search is it doesn't leave you in limbo

Hey Big Blue QC,

I'm no expert but the 3.7 and 4.7 can't be related the same way the 3.9 and 5.2 are. The math just doesn't add up. 3.7/6=.616... which would equal the dis of each cylinder which if multiplied times 8 is 4.933... so they can't be related. It's not as nice as 3.9/3=1.3x8=5.2 Unless the liters are really stretched.

There is a good writeup on the new Hemi in Mopar Action this month.

The valves are pushrod actuated with 2 per cylnder and two sparkplugs per cylnder. The plugs are in the voids on either side of the valves. The block is similar to the 5.2 5.9 but the heads have different head bolt configuration.

O:O <- valve-plugs-valve

Richard Ehrenberg from Mopar Action really knows his stuff really informative article.

That's all I can remember from the article.

peace.

Middy.
