Subject: Pinion Angle/Autocross IP: Logged
Message: I was reading a post the other day about handling and autocross for the life of me, I can't find the stupid post.
My question is, what is pinion angle and how can you change it to get better handling.
Thanks!

Message: speedtuba, that was me giving all the handling advice. pinion angle is the relation between your trans, d-shaft, and rearend. First, is your truck lowered and how, and how much. If you you used lowered hangers in the rear instead of blocks, you are on the right track. I you are going to lower your truck in the rear no more than 4", you probely will not have to move the angle of your trans. If you are alredy lowered, You should put a 3-4deg shim under the leafs. That is what I am using and really good traction out of the turns and no wheel hop. You might want to check your pinion angle relationship between trn+re, to make sure they are not more than 3deg diferance.
By the way, I do not use any kind of traction device, with this set up I have much better traction, and even when I get into it with an acasional ricer on the street.

Message: Thanks roadracer!! I haven't lowered her yet, but I was looking at 2" (Coils) in the front and 4" (Hangers) in the rear. I want to level her out as well as get great handling. Thanks for the tips.
