I just received my M1 and was disappointed by the appearant workmanship.

The casting has several flaws in it - ie: ridges, bumps, scratches, grinding marks, etc. There are several random "center punch" marks between all of the injector bosses.

I know the main purpose of the manifold is for increased performance, but I also like "pretty parts".

How did other M1s look?

Mine has the word "Zeus" molded in the front. Is this the manufacturer? I'm wondering if the current demand for the M1s has lowered the quality control standards??

I don't have an M1 yet, but planning on it. I take the ceterpuch marks to mean That they actually measured stuff and I would also rather see grinder marks on there than whatever it was that they needed to remove (probobly flashing). I'm suprised to hear it wasn't blasted or peened to get rid of the grinder marks. I work in a machine shop where we work with sand cast brass all the time. We stamp letters and numbers all the time as a reference If we don't want the marking to go away. Personaly I would rather see machining marks like that over some of the garbage i've seen some out of Holley's foundrey.

Once you install it the manifold is real hard to see from the drivers seat. No really once its inatalled the wiring, fuel rals, injectors, trottle body, vac hoses, etc, etc,,, you really won't see minor flaws and once you gas it, you'll forget all about em....

Larry - When did you get yours? I'm wondering if I may have one of the first M1s made by the new "contractor". I've heard that a new company is now making the M1s for Dodge. I believe mine is the real thing as it came in official Mopar packing, labels, literature etc.

How did the inside of yours look? Was is smooth? Mine has slightly rough surface areas and has some rough ridges where the air chamber dividers meet with the main intake.

Dakaty mine had the "Zues" stamped on the front also must be somethin Mopar has done. Mine looked flawless when I recieved mine...it might have been a specific machine shop it was at...some may have been good others poor. Shouldn't affect performance, if it does get a refund.

I personally polished the outside of my M1 4 Barrel it took me 9 hours. Expect to spend about a minium of $325 for polish, powder coating, or chrome.
Also once you have put your air cleaner on you will barely be able to see the darn thing.

I took mine by the local Dodge Dealer to show it to them. Many of the Techs, Supervisors and mechanics came over to check it out. They thought it looked great. One mechanic wanted to know where I got it because he wants to order one.

I guess its not so bad after all.......

I got a reason for seeing grindermarks in something. Today at the shop our compressor went down and parts won't be in till next week. Parts still had to be shipped out, so there were grinder marks. It sucks since 4 other machines need shop air besides the peening booth.

Mine had some runner divider core shift I had to address with my grinder in the plenum area. Also smoothed out the machine tool step left directly under the throttle body about 3" down into the plenum. Never had to do this to Edelbrock parts.
