We hope you're not just instigating here with the little one liner jabs and questions. We are learning and tinkering. I hhave money shelled out everywhere for my expensive hobbies(motorcycle, Mustang, stereo, truck), if I have a way to delay spending $400 plus vehicle downtime I'm all for it. I also don't know if I can really justify having it at this time, since I am not running triple digits all the time, but it's nice to know you can if necessary or when you want to. If I gotta get home quick for some reason or rush my asthmatic wife to the hospital, there is not much that's gonna stop me exceeding the speed limit.
Those who deny they never speed are just kidding themselves.

Message: If youre wife is having an asthma attack why not use her inhaler? does she have one? If the inhaler does not work I would strongly urge you to call 911.
We have wonderful drugs such as Albuterol and Solu-Medrol to Help youre wife.
Besides It is much safer and faster for her to be transported via EMS.
In most cases we can treat her on scene and not have to transport, provided the system is activated in a timely manner.
Just some advice.

Message: Had to throw that in there Chris W. I have reacted quickly, albeit hastily in the past, and panicked. I have rushed her to the hospital three times on city streets in the past, fishtailing and all. We live in a new area now, one the would preclude the use of some four lane to get her there. That is what I meant. I really don't necessarily see how you guys get people places any safer or faster, no offense. I have passed ambulances in my truck on six-lane before, siren and all. I know, I know, not legal, but I gave him two and a 1/2 lanes on his left. I am only a partial idiot you see. :^)
But I digress.

Message: kawzx7, I sympathize with you completely. My fiancee has cancer at the ripe old age of 20, and when she first started going through treatments, she passed out from complications and I FREAKED OUT. She came to a minute later, but damn.. Its awfully hard to think rationally and calmly when the woman you love has a medical problem like that.

Message: The reason we get people places safer and faster is because we have a wonderfull thing called the law. You see, the law says you must stop at red lights, stop signs, go with the flow of traffic, drive at posted speed limit etc. Emergency vehicles however may disregard these rules as long as due regard for the safety of the public is observed.
The service I work for requires us to go to EVOC classes. Thats the Emergency Vehicle Operator Course offered by the state of GA.
I dont know about the Ambulances where you live, but our service uses type 3 mini mods by wheeled coach, with the Ford powerstroke. Heavy duty suspension, front and rear swaybars, liquid filled box mounts, beefier tranny, and gofast goodies that you cannot buy for youre personal vehicle, along with excellent 360. visibility lighting, and a governed topspeed of 120mph make sure we get our patients safely and quickly to the ER.
Enroute, we will do everything at our disposal to care for youre loved one. Our service is all ALS with personnel required to be Nationally Registered EMT's or Paramedics. We run fully stocked Advanced Life Support units with the abbility to handle problems, injurys, and illnesses ranging from a scared child with a cut finger, to a full traumatic arrest from a violent MVA.
The majority of the time our patients have been stabilized by the time we get to the ER. We have a progressive protocol book that enables us to administer care and life saving drugs, and other interventions with out the need to consult with on-line medical control.
So you see sir, not only do I take offense to youre statement, but hopefully I have provided you with plenty of reasons why we can infact get youre wife to the ER faster and safer than you.

I personally think Duner is a bigger grinch than me. ;-}
I just got off work a while ago and I think I'm still strung out on caffiene.
