Message: Hey guys. Ive got a 2000 Dak Sport. I love my truck. I wouldnt change my mind about buyin it in a million years. Ive got the 3.9 v6 and I was just wanting some advice on how to get a lil more horsepower out of it without spending a fortune. I dont wanna spend my money on somethin that doesnt work and I figured you guys on here had already done the trial and error thing and might be able to actually tell me what would be worth spending my money on. Any info you can give me would be appreciated.

Message: Heh, sounds like you got the same thing I do. 5-speed?
First thing I did was put an air intake on it, you can make your own. I didn't, I would if I was to do it again. Second thing, Autolite 2394 spark plugs. Third thing? Relocate the IAT to the air intake tube and adjust the TPS voltage. After that, look into either getting a V8 TB conversion, or porting your stock V6 TB... I choose the latter because it only cost $3.00 (gasket), time consuming though.
Check www.speedtweaks.net for information on how to do these mods. :0)

Message: i'd say my best mod would be the M-1 with the 1.7 rockers at a close 2nd. since the M-1 is not available for the v6, try the 1.7's

Message: I read where the cold air intake systems take in a lot of heat from the radiator and defeats the purpose of it. Well guys, is it true or not? Does the benefits outweigh this factor? Thanks.

Message: JAL,
I really don't know about that. I removed the rubber flap from in front of my K&N filter, and it's not directly in front of the radiator... sure, I suppose it picks up heat from the engine and radiator, but definatly less than it did -inside- the engine. There was a noticable difference once the computer adjusted itself to the new readings.

Message: Best mods that gave me to most horsepower was a modified Airaid intake and changing to a Powertone Sportstone muffler. Not too much mods out there for my little 4 banger. I did a bunch of other mods (cosmetic) like computer chip, ignition, throttle body that gave me some performance gains but not as much as the intake and muffler. Best performance bang for buck would be a Nitrous System. Why do some people call the intakes upgrades cold air intake? I've always known them as freeflow intakes. Are they 2 completely different mods?
Thanks

Message: Ripper_242: You have a 4 banger too? Man would I like to talk to you. I can't stand the absense of power and acceloration. It's really makin me mad. I already put in a K&N Air Filter and it helped a little but I'm bored with that,... where can I get some of the mods you have? How much do these mods cost? And did you install them yourself? Thanks a lot Ripper_242 for any info at all,.. I'm sure it will help my prob.

Message: Ok man guess here the mods I put into my little 4 banger. Don't expect too much performance gains cause the 2.5L engine is pushing close 3500 lbs. I got most of my stuff from the local performance shops near home.
Airaid intake = $149 (low & mid end power)
Powertone Sportstone muffler=$129 (high end power)
Jeep 4.0 throttle body = $ 50 (low end power)
Mallory HyFire VI-A Ignition $129
MSD Blaster2 Coil = $22.50
MSD Tach Adaptor = $32.00
Accel 8.8MM spiral core wires = $34.50
Autolite Spark plug 985 $2.00 for all 4 ($2.00 coupon)
Jet Chip Stage 1 = $171.00
All of these gave me about 20-30 unconfirm horses.
Best 0-60 time 10.5 sec
Best 1/4 mile time 16.9 sec
Hehe can somebody give me hints on how to drive
