Subject: Limited Slip IP: Logged
Message: I've had my truck for about a year now. It's a single 4.7 with the 3.92 manual. I added flowmasters in around October. My mom bought my truck for me last March and she wouldn't let me add the limited slip differential when I ordered it. I was wondering how much it would be to add it (if possible) and would it be worth the money. Should I go to the dealership or find a trusty automotive place around here (Baton Rouge)? I seem to have the problem of keeping my wheels from slipping on the track. Any info. on how to keep my wheels from slipping (cheaply) would be appreciated.

Message: Well I don't know if it's possible but I can refer you to a great mechanic in BR. I used to live there and this is the only guy I would let touch my trucks other than myself and My Grandfather. The place is called Autotech. They are on Florida Blvd near Broadmoor Theater behind REX audio. The guys name is Dana. He looks like Jerry Garcia (or Santa Claus). Call him and He will let you know if he can do it.

Message: It is possible but it'll cost you. Definatelly a good upgrade if your having traction problems though. Heh go out @ get a 4x4 if you spin your tires w/ that... You have a SERIOUS problem ;-)

Message: Oh.. One thing I've learned... Never ask if something is possible... Ask if it's affordable. Because with enough $$ I could make your Dak go to the moon.

Message: Find a 4wd shop. They do that kind of stuff quite often.
You should've told your mom that it was a safety feature.

Message: the powertrax is $404 at www.truckperformance.com and it is a simple home install. Another alternative is to buy a limited slip carrier (like an Auburn) that will cost around $350 and pay someone $250 to install it. kinda makes the powertrax seem cheaper.
