Subject: 5.2 performance? IP: Logged
Message:
I have a 94 5.2 CC with 3.55 open gear. I have polished t/b, open k&n, 3932's, headers, no cat and flowmaster 40 series, along with lakewood traction bars. I have never been to the track. Any educated guesses as to what I might run and what I should do next?

Message: I have the same year, same mods except a limited slip and MSD assortment. I can't tell you track times, but i watched a guy dyno a 96 with the same mods at Carlisle. He pulled 227hp and 235ft/lbs of torque if i remember correctly. I want to say he was running mid to high 14s... can't remember what the ticket said. I would seriously look into some sort of traction control device. Once I did the limited slip it has been nothing but grip. Just waiting to blow the doors off whoever crosses me.

Message: Does Dodge make an aftermarket hiperf ECU for a Dodge Dakota with a 5.2 V-8 and 5 speed manual tranny? Their catalogs only show for a automatic trans.

Message: My '99 5.2 CC automatic (Gibson cat-back, Airaid, 180 T-stat, 3.55 open rear) runs 15.4-15.9, according to the G-tech, depending on air temp, traction, etc.
You really need to get traction, so get a locker, or a factory lsd. That's next on my list!
Also, a set of stiffer gears would help. If you go to 265/50/15-sized tires, it would give you the equivalent of 3.92s (assuming you're running the factory 28" tall tires).
Since you already handled the "externals", how about a set of 1.7 rockers?
Are you running a stick or an auto? If you got an automatic, get a shift kit.
I don't see a PCM on your list. That would also help.
Let us know how you do
