I had a speed limiter on my 99RT but a hero at the dealership told me a secret ok, First you have to have a stage 2 Jet chip, unplug the chip and plug it in regular, turn the key to the on position leave it on for exactly 3 min, turn off plug the chip back in and turn the key on for 10 min turn off then start and you Gov will be gone....remember only start the engine at the end after both on positions

Gone permanently? Gone as long as you have the jet chip in? Do you have to repeat the process? Is this specific to the R/T's?

I think it works with all gen 2 Jet chips
If it dosent work the first time which it didnt on mine try try again..

what about the 4.7 engine fans? I have a
stage 2, and if this works, it would be the only
good thing the chip has done thus far.

AS i read these post you have people who work for Dodge Dealers who say the Dealers Can't remove the speed limiter,If thats the case how do they remove it for the POLICE and Fire and rescue trucks,I had it raised by a DC Rep at a local Dealer,They do have a flash to raise the limiter they just don't want too,and they will refer you to the TSB D-00-16 about Performance but they don't have a answer for Lack of Performance due to there PING flash.DC=DON"T CARE

Fine, fine say it as many times as you want but I have been a chrysler tech for seven years. I have yet to see or hear of anyone other than the computer programers them selfs be able to remove it. BTW the police cars come from the factory with the speed limiter removed. Dealer doesn't do it.

YEAH! I think this website needs a FAQs page and have one of the topics be about the speed limiters. Hey CW...have you ever heard of pro-tech transmission. I guess they have some kind of a chip now too. All the companies say the same things now about what their products do. They mostly are full of it.

I didn't say they removed my speed limiter it was raised,I have had my Dakota up to 117 mph befoe it was set at 98 MPH,It was my understanding that SOME dealers OBD and DBR don't support the newer software from DC and starting with the 2001 PCM's it has some of the DBR III codes,If the Police cars and Trucks don't have the limiter from the Factory it must be FLASHED that way and if it is they have a flash,The factory Rep down loaded the flash for my truck and it had to do with the CAB.

CW I understrand you have worked for chrysler corp for seven years , is that right? Any hoo I was woundering if you could help me. The other day I drove my truck for like an hour , then i stopped at my mothers to visit for like 15-20 min. I came back out and got into my my 1990 dakota. (my mother lives on a busy corner) I have to pull in the drive way accross the street so i can turn around and go oput the other way. So I seen I car come around the corner , I jumped into my truck started it quick put it in drive and gave gas......Then it stalled and would not start up. So I got some gas and poured it into the throttle body and it started right up, but then stalled when that gas was gone. So I think it is not getting gas for some reason Maybe the fuel filter or pump. I will start w/the fuel filter. If I have too do the pump Will it be easyier to take the bed off and do it that way or just drop the tank????? I have also read about some (ASD) auotomatic shut down relay..it shuts down the power to the pump????/How can I turn this on if this is the case... Now the tricky part. I know I should listen for the hum from the pump.. UP intill now when I would sit in my truck and when I turn it on I would hear this noise it is like a UM.............kindea like a clicking noise but not like click.............click..it is fait and like very fast anyhoo hard to explain but it has always done this and it will stop after like 3 seconds... After all this happen I pump the hood and now I I think that noise is coming out of this piece under th hood.... It is on the top of the block and it has some thimg to do with the hrottle body. It has 3 wires going in to the clip that slide in to the piece that is makeing the noice and one wire coming out and going to....it looks like it goes right up into the middle off the injectors and this piece it also has a screw coming out of it I believe it the idle screw..Can you tell me what this piece is...(should it be making a noice>?????? It has always made this noice...... Some has told me there is a valve on the fuel line like a tire valve and when I turn the car on I should feel some pressure come out.......???? where is this piece...O almost for got I went to the part store to get prices on fuel filtet and pump... I forget wich one they said this about but on one of the parts they asked me if I have a 131 wheel base or not ...How do I find out about the wheel base///It is probly on a sticker some where under the hood or on the door...Please any info will be greatly appriciated and helpful .....1990 3.9 L V6 2x4

For wheelbase just measure from the center of the front wheel to the center of the rear.

It is easier to just drop the tank unless you have help for the bed removal. The asd only turns on when cranking or running itp powers the computer, coil, fuel pump and lots of stuff. I have no idea what you are talking about with the three wires but I haven't seen under the hood of something that old in a very long time. Mainly work on '98 and up.
