Subject: 2.5 Updates READ: Eddie_orlando IP: Logged
Message: I was reading your posts over and over to make sure I didn't miss anything and noticed a little somethin'. I knew that we both had Gen II 2.5's but I noticed that, in fact, we both have '95 RC Sport 2.5L 5 Speeds. You can see my truck at geocities.com/diligent_dave2001 It's in the Southern Ridas truck section. I'm definately not happy with how it looks right now, I plan on redoing the dash in vinyl or tweed and doin' a bunch of other things. But first I have to get the damage repaired from a wreck I was in. :(
Anyway, I think I have the intake all planned out now. I believe I'm going to re-do the exhaust next. The way I have it is not loud enough at all. It still sounds like a four banger ;)

Message: Dave,
Keep me posted on the intake, it's kind of hard to describe, but it sounds like you got it. For exhaust, I cut off everything from the factory y pipe/headers back to start with (not me, but a good local exhaust shop, illegal yes, good for performance yes also, besides I needed a new cat, the factory one was clogged and rattling, common problems I've found out) So instead I got rid of it, No O2 sensors to worry about on our cats or pre cats!! I ran 2 1/2 inch pipe into a single in/dual out 40 series Flowmaster muffler. I have dual 2 1/4 inch aluminum hand bent/manderal bent pipes coming out the back with some nice stainless angle cut tips. I did away with the spare tire to make more room though! That's okay I took out my tire jack/kit when I put a speaker box behind my seat. Thank god for AAA. Sounds real mellow at idle and rumbles pretty good at acceleration. The muffler shop guys were surprised. Where do you live, if ever in central FL, it's worth getting it done where I went, do great work and not all of the rules like a Midas or someone. cash talks I guess!

Nah...Marty (KRC) is just a "Hot Rodder" at heart. :)

Message: I'd love to someday make it over to KRC to get some things done. But I live in Texas, so that may be a while.
As for my exhaust, at this moment I am running a Flowmaster 40 in place of the stock muffler and cut off the piping afterwards. I want to re-do it pretty badly. It just does not sound correct to me. It sounds pretty good at idle, but in the higher rpm it all but disappears. I want something I can hear. Afterall, we don't have a tach
Which leads into the next part of my post, I have an Autogage 3 3/8 tach but I have not installed it yet.

Message: I'd like to hear from someone who's gotten the KRC custom intake kit for a 2.5, about cost and about performance. I have no desire to outrun a mustang, but I would like to be able to climb a hill @60MPH without having to downshift to 4th.

Message: Bernd,
Actually the exhaust shop I speak of is here in Orlando on Orange Blossom Trail, a totally ghetto part of Orlando, thus the lack of respect for the law, I wasn't talking about Marty, he is very observant of laws, I was going to bring my dad's Ram 5.2 to KRC for a similar setup to mine, no cat etc. and hes said he wouldn't do it, so I respected him and didn't push or anything. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding, Marty is very helpful and honest, if you want illegal work done you have to go somewhere a bit more shady where money does talk, not go to KRC. As for the intake Marty and I came up with (mostly Marty) it was a one off piece, kind of a prototype, he had never done one before on a 2.5, but it worked out, kept airhat and some of the factory setup.
