Message: I just ordered a CC with the 4.7/auto and I was wondering if simply adding a Gibson 3" cat-back and a cold-air induction will make a noticable difference in acceleration? This truck is replacing an S-10 (4.3) that I threw $$$$$ at to make it reasonably fast, but with all the mods I did (K&N, headers, hi-flo cat, Flowmaster exhaust, useless Jacobs ignition, roller timing set), I was still eaten alive by Hondas, Pintos, etc. Also... anyone have an opinion (of course you do) about WHICH cold-air system? From what I've seen, a lot of these seem to just draw under-hood air... probably not much cooler than a stock intake. Ideas?

Message: Broeheem,
I've got an '00 CC SLT with 4.7 Auto, 13K miles. I ordered and installed the Poweraid air intake from Macromotive. All I can say it that this intake makes a noticable difference, and is the best quality and design I have ever purchased in an aftermarket part of this type. It mounts over bottom portion of stock air box, top seals with hood, and draws cooler air from fender like stock intake. Makes a nice growl too. Macromotive is also exceptional outfit to do business with. Overall I am very satisfied! By the way, I want to sell my truck if you are interested. I am in Houston. I know you have one on order, but I thought I would try anyway!

Message: Broeheem,
Don't forget, your comparing a Dodge 4.7 V8 to a GM 4.3 V6. They are two totally different worlds. My wife had a Jimmy with the 4.3. It sucked. Now she has a 99 Durango 4x4 with a 5.2. I have a 00 Quad 4x4 4.7. I have put in a K&N filter and Flowmaster duals. Not a huge difference yet but it does feel stronger. I plan on a K&N Charger Kit, Hypertech programmer, and some JBA headers. You will be suprised at the 4.7 when you drive it. My wife alrady wants to get rid of her 99 5.2 Durango for an 01 4.7 Durango.

Message: Actually, Hawkeye, I was using the 4.3 as an example of how many modifications I performed to that engine - with no increase in performance (according to my own "butt-dyno"). Multiplying the manufacturers claims should've resulted in at least 50-60 additional HP, and ANYONE can feel that kind of increase - it plain wasn't there. This time, I don't intend to shovel 'barrows of cash if I'm not going to achieve considerable satisfaction. You're right, though... the 4.7 is a PREMIUM engine. I rented a '01 Quad with the 4.7/multi-speed, and it really IS a great ride! Now if I can just decide which intake - I'm in California, and none of the intakes that I've seen so far are smog-legal here (you KNOW I'm gonna get one anyway). I hope that I can still use one without any damage to the engine.

Message: I had the Airaid unit and sold after I put on an Intenceperformance Ztube with a 9" filter. Ztube is the better performer by far.
Airaid is OK but the Ztube is far far better.
