Subject: Best muffler/exhaust IP: Logged
Message: From what I've seen in all the postings, it looks to me that the best exhaust for a DAILY driver (no racing) with good low end and mid range would be the stock exhaust manifolds, cat and tailpipe, with a Dynomax or Flowmaster muffler. Headers may help some, but not significantly enough to justify the cost and work? I plan to put a Flowmaster muffler on my truck. I already have the K&N cold air intake and relocated IAT, plus I plan to clean up the throttle body (home project).

Message: Opps! Shoulda said I have a 99 3.9V6/auto 4X2 Ext'd cab SLT. I guess I should also say by "best" I mean the most gain for the dollar spent. I'm sure headers and a complete cat-back system will provide more power and economy gains. But, from what I read, a quality performance muffler (Dynomax, Flowmaster, Ravin, etc) will be the best cost alternative. Thanks for the reply. I ordered a Flowmaster #942552 DeltaFlow muffler from Summit. $89.95. Can't wait to hear it.
