Message: Well I have a 2000 dak w/3.9 engine, I have done the t-stat and autolite plugs and the $@$#@$# thing still rattles going up the hill or if you are the slight bit off on your shift(5-speed) Should I try the spark plug wire re-route or just go straight for the MSD ignition system. I'm really tired of scewing around with this thing, and I am running 89 octane gas too. What do you guys think?

Message: Put a loud muffler on it and you wont here the ping! Light spark knock is nothing to worry about. Its the heavy spark knock at high RPM's is what blows a motor. If you are really hell bent on fixing the problem pull the heads and polish and blend the sharp edges in the combustion chambers and polish the piston tops. But I would not worry about it. You may also want to try a colder plug.

Message: That's the problem I get the knock sometimes light when going uphill or a low rpm shift, but if I really stomp on it then I get too. I have already put the colder plugs in and the 180 t-stat, and I would rather not get the "that's just the way it is " song and dance from my "5 star" dealer that I have to drive 45 minutes to get to anyway. I'll re-route if need be, but if it sound s like a waste of time with my problem, I'd like to know now and I'll just go get the MSD ignition.
