Hi,
I was looking into getting an exhaust put in for my 00' 3.9 and was wondering if the catback is the best way to go ? Has anybody else out there had it done to there's ? If so how do you like it, notice any difference...
any feedback would be helpful..

buy a flowmaster 40 or 50 series and go to the best muffler guy in town tell him to trash the stock system and put the flowmaster in and tell him where you want the exhaust to exit with tips..

I just put a K&N Cold Air kit 57-1517 and a Dynomax 17733 on my New 01 Club Cab 3.9 The throttle response is great and the butt dyno can tell a difference to! Being a new truck I didn't have the heart to scrap that nice SS exhaust system just yet, the Dynomax is 2.5 in & 2.5 out all you need is a 11" piece of 2.5 in/out and it bolts right in place of the stock muffler in about an hour or two. The sound is nice for a V-6, at idle it rumbles like a V-8 , stomp on it you get a nice mellow growllll and as soon as you let up or get to cruising speed you don't even know it's there !

Yes the 57-1517 mounted with no major modifications, the only problem I had was with the saddle bracket when I tried to use it it was at a the wrong angle to clamp on the K&N tube this may be do to the fact the kit is listed for 5.2 & 5.9 engines as you probably know our 3.9 is just minus 2 cylinders . For now I have left my bracket off, this kit comes with the hardware to relocate the crusecontrol. If you go to K&N's web site you can down load the pdf instruction manual.

Saddle Bracket Works
I rearranged the bracket and mounted it on the back side of the tube, works great, I didn't like the way it rubbed AC hose on the front side...TIGHT!
If anyone would like photos of the K&N or the Dynamax install I would be glad to e-mail them

I did a Gibson, single side out on my 99 3.9 RC 2wd. At 40K miles the stock system came off and the new one went on in 20 minutes complete. Great sound, fit perfectly. The only thing is trying to get the clamp after the muffler tight enough so the tail pipe doesn't rotate downwards. All hangers and clamps included in the kit, exact match to stock fit. Although it says cut 5" from front of muffler to remove old, cut 7" or the pipes may contact the rear right brake line and melt a hole... I would definitly go Gibson again...
