Subject: 2001 muffler question IP: Logged
Message: Just got a '01 Dakota 3.9L 4X4. I would like to get a more aggressive sound out of it - but do it on a budget. I'm basically looking at swapping just the muffler, not getting a full catback system. Anyone put on a flowmaster 50 series on a V6? (flowmaster told me that the 50 would sound the best on the 6 banger). Any feedback would be appreciated. Thrush glasspacks are pretty cheap but it snows a whole lot in the mountians of North Central PA and I don't now much about how they might sound on a late model truck. If anyone has anything that might help me out let me know - thanks

Message: I recently put a Flowmaster 50 Series on my '01 4.7 V8 and am really pleased with it. I did go with the dual 2-1/4" outlets, but I'm sure that you could get a single outlet and just splice it in. It has a nice deep tone outside and a kind of mellow rumble inside. At highway speeds, you really don't even hear it.

Message: Tim, Thanks for the response. I'm sure mufflers are just like anything else, you get what you pay for. First hand I have heard a lot of good things about flowmaster, but some of the guys on this site seem to be pretty displeased with them. Anyhow thanks for your input.
