Subject: Octane Booster Problems?!?! IP: Logged
Message: I have been noticing a lose in performance in my 2000 Dakota R/T , the only thing I can think of is I am using NOS octane booster , which contains MMT , it says it IS SAFE for cat converters and 02 sensors , but MMT leaves a coating on spark plugs and I figure it would do the say to 02 sensors and cat converters , has anyone experienced this , I use the booster because it pings in the summer sometimes, even know I have the 180 thermostat and 3923 plugs , should I use 3922 plugs , anyone got any suggestions? Thanks.

Message: Maybe you have a problem with the plenum pan gasket on your intake manifold. I had that problem with mine and it really caused some bad pinging. It caused it to use a lot of oil too. How is your oil consumption?

Message: BH-R/T,
What octane grade are you using at the pump? I had the same questions about the NOS octane boosters so I called NOS industries and talk about quick! One of their engineers called me that day. NOS tests all of their booster to up to (I think it was) a 6 to 1 booster to fuel ratio in order to insure its effectivness. I had the same problem in the summer, I live in Texas!
I use no less than pump plus (93 octane) and two bottles of the NOS Street octane booster. Oh, yah I usually run on 3/4 of a tank, and hard too. I like to give it a little heat to make sure it's doing what its supposed to. Then the next tank I run 1 NOS street and 1 NOS off road. Works fine!
I know this turned out to be a long story, but I am just trying to help.
