Subject: Ignition Question IP: Logged
Message: Does anyone have experience on the Crane HI-6 ignition. I was going to go with MSD 6A but Jegs is having a sale on the Crane. For $163 you get the igniton system and a coil! I'm just wondering how easy it is to incorporate into a 98 5.2 and if it is a good product???
Any thoughts guys.

Message: I have a MSD 6A and I love it. I purchased mine while I was at the Gatornationals this year. The MSD booth sells reconditioned ones for $125 give or take.

Message: I had a Crane HI-6S inductive on my R/T. I could tell a definite increase in power. BUT, it did not idle right, and had a miss when first accelerating. I hated it. Sent it back to Summit. Bought an MSD 6T and am using the factory coil. (MSD tech recommendation on both) It has the same power (butt dyno) as stock throughout the powerband. There may be a small difference in low speed, but some say you get a loss on the top end with the MSD. A guy on moparchat.com has a dyno test to prove this. It was on the Dakota link. Good luck.

Message: I have a 98 5.2 auto Sport with a MSD 6TN from ManciniRacing.com for $148 and a BlasterSS from Lane Automotive for $35.
The 6TN has the Nascar plug for the wires, no biggie, easy install. Alo got the universal wiring from MSD for easy wiring.
MSD has a good/best reputation.
