Subject: Stock R/T exhaust Q? IP: Logged
Message: Has anyone heard a stock R/T exhaust? I've heard
some Flowmaster and others and they are not for
me, too loud. I'm considering the Dynomax super
turbo or the ultra flow with the R/T 3" pipe. Does
the R/T use a ultraflow or super turbo? Thanx.

Message: The R/T in 98,99 used a dynomax ultra-flo to Dodges specs, not the same as a standard ultra-flo.
The R/T in 00,01 uses a Dodge muffler.

Message: Smoody I have the 2000 R/T muffler and tail pipe on my 2000 4.7 and I love it,it sounds great, better than on the R/T. HeHeHe It is cheaper than other systems on the market and it is stainless. It does not annoy the hell out of me on the e-way.It is a straight through muffler, made by Chrysler.

Message: I ordered it new,it cost me 287.00,I work for Chrysler,so I got a discount. If you know anyone that works there, that would be cool for you.Other good points to the R/T exhaust is that it makes for a nice fit,and my dealer can't cry about it,if I have problems with the engine. Message: Bob do you know if the pipe setup on the 99 5.2 from the headers down to the cat are the same as the 4.7 setup?? You have a 4.7 with an R/T exhaust on it, which is design for the 5.9. And that fit perfect with no problems with the pipes.
The reason why I'm asking is that I called my dealership to find out about the Mopar 3" cat-back they offer. But it's only for 99 and lower models with the 5.2, that's why I need to know if the setup of the pipes are the same on the 4.7.
I asked them at the dealership about the difference from the 5.2 & 4.7 pipe setup. They don't know if it's the same, neither does my uncle know.
I can get this cat-back at dealer cost from my uncle who's the manager of a dealership. Can you help me out???
Thanks

Message: Anthony--HotRod did a test with a Mopar exhaust kit and it was on a R/T.I know that the 3.9 4.7 5.9 use the same set up,I would think that the 5.2 would be the same set up.I know that the 2000 Mopar catalog list the exhaust kit for 2000 4.7 Dakotas.Go to the library and look at HotRod [November 1999]mag. Hope I helped in some way.

Message: The dealer had the 2001 catalog, the newest kit is for the 99 5.2 no 2000 yet. The same goes for Mopar's website. The dealer said the kit could be out by maybe June. Bob would you be able to find out the part number for my truck? If you don't mind, so that I can throw it back in the dealers face.
Thanks Bob you've been a BIG help, I'll see if I can find that HOTROD issue.

Dual inlet Cat with a single outlet. Most of the R/T people have swapped out the stock system for a 3" cat-back. (Seems to work much better on them.)

Message: Hey Bob get this, I went to the dealership to order the Mopar 3" cat-back exhaust, the one you told me in the above post. When I talked to the guy about the 5.9 mopar cat-back fits the 4.7 pipe, he said that it will need to be modify to fit my truck (but he wasn't for sure). I told him that an R/T bolts to the 4.7. (I used you as an example) he said it could be possible. He told me that he has to call some one else from Chrysler to get approval that the 5.9 cat-back will fit my truck. I have to call him back tommorrow to hear what he said.
I want to make sure that the cat-back for the 5.9 will fit my truck? Is there any modification that is needed to be done? Your system bolted right up to the factory hangers, right?? If yours system fits like a glove mine should fit too.
Bob, I ask for your help again.
Thanks in advance

Message: Guys, just to clear the waters. 00 RT has a single in, single out cat, 2 1/2". 2 1/2" Ultra Flow muffler and a 3" mandrel bent tailpipe from the factory. The Mopar Performance exhaust is a 3" cat back using a 3" Ultra Flow and mandrel bent pipes. A Walker Dynomax rep gave me this info. I know the 98/99 RT had a dual, single out cat, but for some reason they changed it in 00. I don't know what the 01 has.
