Message: There are some things to consider on the downside (if you want to call it that) of putting in a Mopar PCM.
1) premium fuel only
2) no towing
3) must swap back original PCM (if you keep it) to tow or use 87 gas
If you put the same money toward a Superchip tuner (both upgrades cost roughly the same $$$) you can have the best of all worlds without turning a wrench. You also get other adjustments - tire size, rpm, speed, shift.

Message: Are you meaning that i will loose bottom end torque when you say "no towing" ? because i want to keep the bottom end :) For the 92 oct fuel, its ok, im only driving it on weekends and im trying to use premium most of the time. For the superchips part i own a Gen II one so the only option i have is this or a jet chip , and i heard about how effective the jet chips were so im gonna stick with Mopar :)

Message: Modain, I was just wondering why you don't think that it is possible to tow with the Mopar PCM? And to answer Xrated's question about torque, no you will not lose torque. In fact that's this chip's strong point. Check out this page: http://krcperformance.net/newcontent/dyno.html
The results from the mopar pcm are about half way down the page.

Message: I can't answer from experience regarding the Mopar PCM and low end torque. I only cited the "no towing" because everything I have read regarding the Mopar PCM states towing is not allowed/recommended/encouraged. I'm sure there are folks that could chime in with the reasons. Maybe there are some that have it and have towed. They could share their experience...
Since the truck under discusion is a Gen II Superchips 3715 is out. Maybe Hypertech makes a tuner for this generation? Otherwise, a Mopar PCM or a custom flash would be the options you have. Keep your old PCM if you replace it.

Message: Ok, thanks a lot! so if i have to tow ill plug in the old one, and i was thinking about puting the pcms side by side , anybody know if it would work? I dont know if they would interfere or something like this? If it cant be done ill just keep my old one in the house.

Message: Moe, Superchips does not make chips/programmers for the GenIIs. The only options are a custom flash , a Mopar PCM or Jet chips and from what i heard , stay away from jet chips :)

Message: I was just wondering what was wrong with the Jet-Chips? I'd get a mopar PCM or flash anyways, but I've never heard anything bad about the jet-chips... But I've also never been interested enough to do research on them... JUST CURIOUS :-D
