Message: weightset, you don't want fully locked diff unless you use your truck off-road only or drag racing only. It's not usable for normal street driving when you need to negotiate turns.
If you want posi diff , also called slip diff you can buy the popular Auburn slip differential.

Message: with a fully lock rear end you want to be on a slippery surface such as "dirt" or just in a straight line such as "drag racing."
my friends got lockers on his jeep and it is street-able but can break if stress. with a locker the wheels "always" spin the same speed.
get a "posi"

Message: Weld the rear end together? That's commonly called a spool. That's excellent advice - for a drag racing only or mud only vehicle. Otherwise it's one of the most rediculous suggestions I've heard on this board yet.
If you've been driving a "locked" rear end for over a year and didn't notice anything, it's not locked.
Look in to a real traction device. There are a lot of good ones available, depending on what you're going to do with it. Go to the Richmond Gear web site and do a little reading.

Message: .boB,
95v6 said it was not usuable for everyday use. I told him i been doing it for over a year. He then asked how i locked it and i told him how.
i never recommended that anybody weld up their rear axle. I never stated i havent noticed anything... the truck has 400 rwtq and i can take every gear side ways until i get off of the go-pedal.
there are no real traction devices for a dodge 8.25 other than a trac lok or powertrax... one's a piece of poo and the other costs about $395 more than a spool of .035 for the ol' welder.
kowalski,
that's what i've always heard them called.. lol

later on i'm going to get a 9.25, narrow it and build it up for my truck, when i actually want to take it to the track.

hey intense, unrelated question: your thumbnail picture is different from your profile. It has hood vents - are they real?
