hopefully the Torque gains are decent, when I say decent I mean about 15 Tq.

Message: Whoever asked, you don't install a chip.
It's a PROGRAMMER. You plug it into your diagnostic port just under the dash inside your cab. Yup. You don't even pop the hood!
It backs up your FACTROY programming (that's when it is LOCKED to ONLY being used on your vehicle BTW) then select what options you want and let it program your PCM.

Message: I think floored. But was minutes after programming and I let it spin silly. Plus it was 115 degrees outside. Can you say HOT weather???
It seems to have more pickup and go after I ran it a few more times.
Tonight I messed more and managed to hit 6600 RPM's when I think it MAY have hit the limiter just as I shifted, but not sure. Need more mods to get power there. I'm also doing very close to 60 MPH for the 1st to 2nd shift due to stinkin' 3.55 gears and the taller tires the 4X4 comes with! (close to 30+ inches).
I played with it a few times down the street and noticed the BEST shiftpont (shifting the auto manually) was at 6200 RPM's when itg was still pulling strong. It DIVES in power at 6300 +
On some more smooth road down from me (everything else is kind of rough) I finally heard it CHIRP the tires breifly from the 1st to 2nd shift! Not very loud. But that's STILL over 50MPH!!!
It DEFINITLY is shifting harder than sheet now! And I'm just on the 87 octane setting.
I wont be surprised it it barks the ever living piss out of my tires once I drop in them 4.10 gears :)
I think I need better exhaust too now. Got factory y-pipe and all except for Flowmaster.

Message: that is pretty impressive considering it is an automatic, barking the tires when shifting.
I have a manual in my Dak, and I can Bark the Tires Hitting 3rd Gear, going bout 50 or 60, it is a pretty Good Bark, it leaves a black strip.
you have all the same mods as me, except you have a SuperChips Tuner, and yours is probably a couple hundred pounds heavier considering you have a Quad Cab and a 2 inch Lift
you don't have headers yet do you? I recommend getting a pair of Gibson Shorties if you think about getting them.

I like that video you made, it is pretty cool to watch the speed and tach go up, and I also made a pretty good observation,
your dakota sounds alot like mine in the cab,

Message: Thanks. Yeah I was just telling my friend that mine shifts around 50 on it's own, and real close to 60 if I hold it to the limit.
He says "that's your 2nd to 3rd shift, right?"
I'm like "nope! 1st to 2nd! Imagine this with 4.10's now!"
I can't wait.
Oh. And I want headers bad. I'm thinking of buying some cheap shorties. Then cutting them and extending to full length myself and running true duals. I LOVE my Flowmaster 40. but thinking of trying glass packs when i go duals. I can always cut them out and go back to Flowmasters if I don't like it.

if you think the 40 series flowmaster sounds good by itself, wait till you hear it with headers,
it makes it sound a little deeper, alot more throaty, overall, sounds really good combined with an intake as well.
P.S. you are not the only one who has a SuperChips Tuner, I just ordered mine today!, can't wait to try it out.

Message: GraphiteDak,
I noticed you were manually shifting to get to 6500 rpms. Did the programmer change the automatic shift points as well? My truck is stock and it automatically shifts at around 5500 rpms during WOT. I was wondering if the programmer will allow the user to set the automatic shift points?

Message: Well I dunno about the 91 setting, but on the 87 octane setting it still shifts about 5600 on it's own.
I held it down in the video to see where it would go.
Since I've driven it a bit it seems a bit more responsive. I also have found out shifting at 6200 is about perfect. Right after that the power dives quickly.

Message: UPDATE:
I filled up with 91 octane and programmed the 91 setting. I didn't hear any pinging.
Then on the way home from our trip from the mountains it was raining in Phoenix. NO TRACTION and if I baby it and then step on it to 50MPH and shift it breaks traction from the hard shift and spins the tires badly.
The tranny DEFINITLY shifts hard.
Yesterday I took my friend for a ride (no rain) and it was probably near 110 degrees outside and dry. It barked the tires once again.
OOOHHH! I CAN'T wait for 4.10's now!

Yes, that's the highest setting.
honestly, I'm not sure I noticed any difference from 87 to 91 setting.
Both gave me 6500+ RPM limter, shifts, etc.

Message: GraphiteDak,
Yes our trucks are almost the same, that's why i've been following this post so closely. I made my decision to get the programmer after reading your results. I have to say it sounds like its worth the money just to get rid of the lame torque management. Right now its next to impossible to lay down any rubber, and after watching the short video of you getting lose in first I was sold. I hope I have the same results.
I have a quick question maybe you can answer. You list LSD as a future mod. I kept my window sticker listing all the options on my truck and it says that i have anti-slip differential. Is this the same as the limited-slip differential you are referring to?

I dunno WHY mine is a one-wheel-wonder being a 4X4 and all :(
I'm about to post a few new videos from yesterday as soon as they upload. They are funny as well as demonstrating the SuperChips because Coppertop was with me holding the camera, therefore I get a little more crazy :)

Message: GraphiteDak,
Nice vids...I may have the LSD, but your truck seems to grab rpms a lot faster than mine. And you can chirp 2nd with a passenger which i doubt most 4X4's with automatics can do. It's probably the HO cams and programmer. I'll make a vid after my programmer gets here and see if i can smoke both tires, it won't be easy with these weak 3.55's though.

Hello once again.
HOw come yours comes with an rpm limiter increse, and others like mine don't have it? Thus far, everyone seems to have the rev limiter is not an option, speed limiter is.
And once again, I'd like to point out that the amount of torque at that rpm, doesn't seem like it's worth it.
I'm attaching the graphs to an email to you.

Message: I do have a ported 68MM TB. Mine pulls real hard to 6200 and dives like mad after that but WILL run to 6500+ RPM's if I stay into it. It REALLY revs :)
So Todd, are you saying you STILL can't exceed 6000 RPM's? Weird cuz I have YET to hit my limiter now. And you SAW that video with it going near 6600...
My next move is 4.10 hears. then maybe next year. A few steps up on the cams. I want my baby to lope and pull some near 7000 RPM power :)

Message: My Superchips experience isn't matching up with Graphite's either. I have an 02 QC auto AWD.
Prior to the SC, my rev limiter was at 6200, and did not change with either the 87 or 91 programs.
My shift points also stayed the same, around 54-5500. My power drops off signinficantly after 5500. I had the TMR cut prior to the SC, so that wasn't an improvement point for me.
I've run G-Tech times and found the following:
o SC 91 program worth about .3 in the 1/4
o manually shifting the auto at higher rpms did not improve the 1/4 times
o (...and just for info) my Volant intake tube and cone filter cost .2 in the 1/4 (in other words, stock setup was quicker in the 1/4)
So, in summary, every change you make may or may not help your particular truck :-) Which is why I bought the G-Tech,,, wish I'd bought it earlier.
