im planning to do a 3" cat back exhaust on my 97 5.2L V8. i'll be using regular 3" piping but i want to use a muffler that is gonna be very loud and deep but not raspy. any suggestions on what mufflers would be best for the sound im looking for would be a big help.

Sound always a personal thing-I personally like
glass/steel paks, as they are straight thru (dont disrupt ext pulses) and LOUD, but generally not raspy. Put 30-36" w/3"in & out in place of existing muff.-if too loud, you can always add tail pipe muffs/tips to quiet down.
NOTE:IF doing DUAL catback-dont go bigger than 2.5" pipes, as the 5.2 needs SMALLER pipes to keep ex. pulse velocity HIGH.
Add a K&N,& lose the mechanical fan (only if you hav an electrical BU)& you get more MPG to boot.
