Subject: New Tires IP: Logged
Message: Its about time for me to pick up some new rubber on my dak. size of them is 255 - 65 - 16. It doesnt seem to be a very easy to find size either. I have Falken STZ/04's right now. I was leaning towards the Hankook Ventus tires. I was wondering if anyone has them on their dak, and what they thought of them. Any other suggestions for tires is helpful too. Thanks

Message: they only carry 2 tires in my size where i live, and they are both goodyear, and i dotn really like either of them. lol
Hankook does make a Ventus model in 255/65 - 16, just not the one i put a link to. Those are the ones i wish i had.
Also, im considering upgrading to some new rims. I might put on some 18's for a couple reasons. I want something bigger, and its about impossible to find tires for the size rim i have now. But for now, im on a limited budget, so new rims right now is out of the question.

The tires i have on my rims right now are 255/65 - 16. Can i put on tires of a different width or profile on the same rim?

Message: As long as the new size isn't significantly different you should be okay. My old T-bird came with 215/70R15s but the same rims fit a 205/70 from the factory and I was able to upgrade to 235/60R15s. Your tire store should have some idea how far you can go without having clearance issues or speedometer error.

Message: If you have the 8"wide rims, then you can go to 265/70R16 very easily, as a matter of fact that is what comes on the daks with the tire and handling package.
