Subject: torque management mod??? IP: Logged
Message: I just recently read this on some posts about cutting the TMR wire from the PCM to disable the torque management to firm up tranny shifts. Anyone know if this is possible on my truck, it's a '97 5.2 with a 44RE for a transmission. Any help or suggestions would be great. thanks.

Message: Thanks jackass....did you read the very first part of my post that said I had already read about it in some other threads? I hate when people suggest that, obviously that was the first thing I tried.
All of the info I have found were about tranny's that were mated to a 4.7, I have a 5.2 and thus a different tranny. I haven't found any info on whether or not this can be done to a 44RE. Anyone with a helpful suggestion please let me know. Thanks.

Message: I'm pretty sure (99.9%) that it won't work on the older (42,44,46 RE) transmissions.. the newer 45 and 5-45 RFE transmissions are electronicly controlled. your transmission is not fully electronicl controlled. 1st and 2nd are controlled by the T.V. cable, and 3-4th are controlled by the T.P.S sensor... the 4.7's tranny is 100% electronic, I don't think it even has bands.
I'm sory that I can't really provide any more in-depth info, this is pretty much all I know about it ;-)
as far as I know, this mod only works on 00-03 4.7s (and HEMI rams too, though i'm not sure of the years on them) As soon as my warranty expires, I'm going to be experimenting with clipping the wire. I might wire it up to a switch, and mount it to the dash somehow...

Message: Dang, that's what I was afraid of. I really don't want to have to take my valve body back out and drill a little more agressively on the seperator plate. Unfotunately when I installed the transgo the first time I didn't do it agressively enough. Oh well, thanks for the input.

Message: why have the TV cable and tps sensor do a single job? wouldnt that just complicate things? lol
