Im looking at buying a flowmaster dual exhaust on ebay. I was wondering how loud these are and how much they affect mpg and the performance of the truck. It is going for $200 brand new, is that a good price?

That last post really answered a lot. What engine do you have? What series flow? 40,50, 70? Delta flow? The price seems resonable, but I think you will pay a lot for shipping, depends though. I have a '98 3.9 with Flowmaster 40 Delta flow and it sounds nice. Gets a little ricy in the higher rpms but not bad. I have had several people mistake it for a V8 and even an R/T. Im not sure why at R/T becauce their is no major difference in exhaust. But to fully answer your question, it depends on how much it will cost to install and ship. I think mine cost about 250.00 last year. So.... I would buy directly from a muffler shop, easier to contact if their is a problem, but everyone is different.

That should nice, depending on what series. 40 is the loudest and 70 is slighty louder than stock (from what I have heard). That isn't a bad price. I would guess that it comes with pipes and tips also. That is a decent price, but it's all preference.

Also will i have to move my spare tire or do any other mods to get it on. Ive read that dual exhaust will cause some loss in torque. is that true and how much? Thanks

If you get the correct set up you should not have to move anything under the truck. It should be built specifically for your vehicle. I had mine installed so.... As for the torque issue. I have heard some of the same rumors, but I didn't notice a loss, but maybe a slight gain. You will lose torque if you go with a "true" dual, because there is not enough back pressure, unless you use an "x" pipe. But no, you should increase HP and Torque, but like all mods, each vehicle reacts differently. Good luck, and let me know how it turns out.

I have a 40 Series on my Dak, and it sounds really good, nice rumble and cackle when I downshift. It is loud in the cab too, very loud when I mash it, The FIPK makes even more of a rumble from the hood. It sounds very good. BUT when I mash it, there goes my Gas.

I recommend the 40 Series.

I had Straight tips at first, I changed them to Slant, because if I was hauling firewood or mulch, the tips would scratch the ground and the brackets would break.

I noticed when I changed to slant tips, it sounded a little better, more of a cackle rumble sound. on my 40 series FM.

I had the Flowmaster mufflers 40 series. They were very loud. After 3 months they started making a vibrating noise as if they were falling apart inside. I replaced them with the dynamax muffler and glad I did - Good performance and nice sound. Its still a bit loud when you accelerate but much better sound than Flowmaster.

MY 40 series is fine, I have had it for 4 years, it sounds fine, it doesn't have a "falling apart inside " sound. once it does, I am getting a straight pipe. so far I haven't had any problems with my 40 series.

- The only probs I have had for my exaust is my cats went bad, and I had them replaced, free of charge at my dodge dealer. It would sound like Metal clinging when I would downshift. that was about 2 years ago, I haven't had that problem since.

40 series DELTA FLOW sounds better in the cab than a non delta flow from what I understand.

Mine has been ok almost 2 yrs and I've romped the ever living pi$$ out of my truck submerging mine into mud and water too many times and it's still sounding like new!

If I ever go with something else, it would be a cheap ol' glass pack. That's all most of them other overpriced mufflers are anyway. A glasspack in a muffler shaped can!

I just had a flowmaster 50 single in,dualout put on my 02 4x4 cc with the 4.7. My duals come out where the factorys did. This is because I pull a camper and didn't want fumes in it. I too live in Iowa and no the flowmaster is not loud sounds real good. But it's all on what sound you like. Everyone is different. Oh by the way I had mine done at Magic Muffler in Grinnell.(265 dollars tax included, mandel bent).

I bought a $20 Cherry Bomb from Advanced Auto and put installed it in about 2 hours w/ wedling the tail pipe back together (Shorter than stock muf).

It sounds great and not to loud in the cab, and this is w/ the 3.9 V6. nice rumble at cruising speed.

Just a cheap option.
