I know everyone here owns a dakota and most love them. But periodically I still see a lot of negativity. I just thought I would bring something positive to the board. Last weekend on the highway I was coming down the on ramp and it popped out of third gear doing about 40. I tried to put it back into gear but found nothing, the shifter wouldnt go into any gear. So I rolled to the right side off the road and still couldnt find a gear (ANY). So I was screwed! Ive owned manuals before never had this. I had it towed to the local dealership. Come to find out it wasnt the clutch. I thought maybe i blew it up. But come to find out I need a new transmission! wow! Ive never killed a tranny before?! lol! The previous owner was in construction maybe that had something to do with it too. Anyways it is a 2000 4.7 2x4 with 72K and something broke off in the tranny. Well the dealer has been awesome. I had a three year warranty thank god. Im 22 and cant afford $3,000 for a new one. But they have the tranny on the way, no questions asked. They had a rental sent to my house covered under warranty. Its a 2001 RAM! hehe! Although its an auto! booo! I just thought everyone was nice and took car eof me. I know this should be "the norm" everywhere, but it isnt always. It sucks that a transmission would die like that I should know exactly why soon. But I give Dodge and Chrysler a huge thumbs up! Or atleast the local dealer here.
