Message: Has anybody experienced any problems with lights dimming or not having enough electrical current due to the alternator spinning slower? I have read a couple of people having this problem but I would assume that their battery had to be weak not to be able to run their electrical even with the alternator spinning slower.

Message: I would only use the alternator pulley at the track, cause it will not spin up fast enough to charge your system. For me, I run a 800w amp and CB radio as well, so I decided not to go with the crank or alternator pulley. Just the crank pulley *could* be a problem depending on what accessories you have running.

Message: have your alternator checked out, it might be close to dying, underdrives aren't going to give you much power, unless you're at the end of you mods, and have little else to do.

Message: Well, another mark, I don't race my 4X4 truck, or do heavy duty off roading, so I don't need a supercharger or NOS, and some of us don't have $4000 to drop on a useless piece of equipment that has no benefit for us. So that is why this thread asked about the underdrive pulley, as I am looking for a little less drain on the engine and some increased gas mileage.
So, IM not-so HO take your crap somewhere else and quit screwing up my thread jackass!!

Message: Settle down guys. Technically, there was nothing in this thread to suggest that you either did or did not race, off road or were looking for better mileage.
That said, underdrives will hurt the amount of electricity available. Just using the crank pulley will minimize the loss, but the gain in performance is very minimal. Using both crank and alternator will hurt your amps more. You will be fine at speed, but if you spend a lot of time in stop and go traffic, your battery will not get a proper charge. This is especially true if you have any aftermarket electrical accessories installed in your truck.
I almost bought a set of pulleys last week or so, but decided against it for the above reasons. The guy who was selling them was doing so because he was also experiencing charging problems with them installed. Hope this helps.

Message: Hey pal, i own a 99 dak with a 5.2. I installed a 3pc underdrive set. I had charging problems and my check gauges light would go crazy, I went to autozone and installed the biggest marine battery they had, it solved my gauge problem. Still the alternator does not put anything out at idle, but no problem so far

Message: The 3 pc. worked well on 2000 5.9, with HD chg. system. I would use the water pump and crank underdrives but leave the alt. stock to keep alt.RPM
high enough to keep at least 13v going to the battery. Add an idler if needed and use the stock belt. I can offer an install method for 2000 up if
your interested and can spend 4-5 hours to do it.
I would say a 10 hp gain is max gain, and the revs are a little quicker.
I'll have a set for sale if they won't fit the 5.7
