I guess I don't know much, I thought you used the gear that was a 1 to 1 ratio, speedo to tach. Maybe that was second for you?

Message: 2000cc4.7,
OK, yea, that is a good pull. I'll bet the 5.9 guys would like to have it.
I know what you meant by 2nd. I have a 117mph speed limiter, and my truck doesn't have a 'P'.
It's a 2001, Quad Cab, with 3.55's and LSD. Tailer towing, etc.
4.7, 5spd, LSD
HO cams and intake (myself)
ported 68mm TB
'true' CAI homebrew intake w/ K&N filter
No belt clutch/fan
3923's
IAT adjuster
MObil 1 earl
heater water shut off valve
next pseudo mod-relocating my third cat
to a shelf in my garage.
You didn't hear it form me, but, I've read here that the Jet chip may actually cost you some HP.
Back to the 2nd gear thingy, I'm no expert here. I thought it was more accurate when measuring the RWHP, if it's as close to one to one as possible. Now, that may be your 2nd gear. And as I said, I'm no expert, and yes, it sounds like a nice pull. I wasn't knocking you.
Maybe someone that ACTUALLY knows if it affects the HP reading much could chime in.
OH, and I've never had mine on a dyno, yet anyway.

Message: You have to dyno a vehicle at or as close to a 1:1 ratio as possible otherwise it is not accurate. So your numbers will be inflated from real 1:1 numbers.

My jet chip from what i've learned yes it is good and bad.. wide open throttleit probly does take away 6-8 hp but 1/4-1/2-3/4 throttle it advance 3 dgrs i think.. whitch makes good around town.. how many times you leave the red light on mane st. full throttle..lol

Message: Having rebuilt a few tranny's I know almost all 5 speed sticks are a 1:1 gear ration at 4th gear. That is directly connecting the input to the output shaft.
Auto tranny's do 1:1 in 3rd gear. Input directly to output shaft.

Message: Yeah I wanted a deep forest green color but they didn't have one available. Dealer tryed to sell me a solar yellow 4x4 but I opted out of that one real quick.
I ordered mine from the factory with the 3.92's. Mileage really doesn't suffer much I don't think. 1st gear is useless and I never use unless i'm hauling a load or towing.
You can get the gears from a few sources. My truck does alright. I would like to get it dynoed but i've got bigger fish to fry. Also there is no place to race here in Ft. Myers. I'd have to drive 2 hours to get a a 1/4 mile track. Kinda sucks.
Mods are kinda on hold for a little while though. I'm about to ask my girl the big question with a ring that could by the rest of the mods that would ever want. It almost makes me cry thinking about it. Damn women and their rings!!!

Message: Graphite,
I'm sure you're right about the 1:1 in 4th in the tranny, but I've got the 3.55's, and exatly 1:1 is in third gear for me. That's also with the stock 16inch wheels and tire size with the tire and handling group.
So............
What's the verdict, was it a valid pull in 2nd, with an auto?

Message: Todd, your rear end gear ratio has nothing to do with the 1:1 ratio. They're talking about 1:1 ratio on the transmission. For the NV3500 manual tranny, 4th gear is 1:1. 3rd gear is 1.40:1. For the auto trannies, 45RFE and 46RE, 3rd gear is 1:1.

Message: No it wasn't a valid pull in second. If it is auto, you have to make the pull in 3rd or if it is manual, 4th. Then you would get some accurate numbers.
