Message: I have a '01 QC 4x4 Dakota Sport. 4.7lt engine. I noticed the rpms sometimes at a red light go down to 600rpm or so and runs a little rough kinda like a strong gust of wind. Does anyone have this problem or does anyone know if it is a issue?

Message: Mine isn't 4X4 but it does the same thing. Down to about 600rpm's. Every once in a while it will also seem to try to go to 500 but will almost stall and go back to 600. I think this is common in the new 4.7's. But they do have an upgrade for the chip for these issues as well. To fix the low idling. I kind of like it myself. Makes me feel more POWERFUL. HAHAhahahhee.

Message: Mine does this all the time. It idles between 500 and 600 rpm. I realy do not have a problem with it yet; but I am woundering how this is going to effect winter driveing. I have had vechiles that had much higher idle speeds have problems staying running because they could not reach 500-800 rpm without help due to cold. By help I mean right foot on accelerator to keep it running. My vechile and and my roomates where the only vechiles that would start that day under their own power. We gave about 40 jump starts each that day to get all the other students home to their families. I am wounder if Dodge tested these engines in an artic like enviroment with this EPA friendly idle. Does anyone know how dodge deals with cold start situations? I did not see a cold start injector anywhere on the intake manifold.
