Subject: Pro Comp X/T or Mickey Thompson Baja? IP: Logged
Message: NEED HELP!
Can't decide whether to go with Mickey Thompson Baja's or Pro Comp X/Terrains - I have had Mickey Baja's (31") in the past and I really liked them, but I just installed a lift and I want to go with 33's - Mickey Baja's don't come in 33x12.5 so I am leaning towards the Pro Comp X/Terrains - If anyone has pics of them installed or any tips about tread wear (how many miles) and noise on highway please let me know.
Thanks,
Melia

Message: Mel, i'd go with the Pro-Comp x-Terrians if i were you. I've read the report's about the X-Terrains and they wear very good and have moderate road noise. The Mickey's may not look like they would make alot of noise but they are LOUD plus they don't last that long on the road. I haveanother question for you, have you thought about the Goodyear MTR's? A buddy of mine has them on his Dak and he say's they wear great, they last long, they don't really make that much noise, and they look extremely aggressive. Just another option you might want to consider.

Message: if you go with the mickeys they have the radials that are just as good as the x'terrains on and off the road
i wouldn't know which was better because i've never owned either but i read a lot of magazines and the mickeys were always rated better
mtr's do look aggressive but when i owned some 31 10.50's on my ranger all they did was get me stuck faster and i'll try to find that online article on them on how they aren't a great mud tire as the pro comp mt's or bf mt's
not saying steve was giving a bad opinion but i'm just stating what's ive read and experienced

Message: Your right, Joey, Mickey Thompson does make a Radial and yes they are always rated #1, but that is mostly an offroad test. And about the MTR's, a 31x10.50 isn't wide enough to give you sufficaint support off-road, really what it come down to is what Mel is going to use the truck for mostly. Oh, yeah and the Mickey Thompson's, I have never seen a set last more than 10,000 miles, the rubber is too soft and the tread design's are made in such a way that they do nothing but produce large amount's of noise.

Message: I too am looking for new tires and am trying to decide between 32" BFG All-Terrain or 32" Goodyear MT/R unless ProComp comes out with 32" Xterrains. If they already have 32" Xterrains that I am not aware of please let me know.
