I recently purchased a 2000 4x4 dakota with the base tires on it. I am interested in putting larger tires on, I know 31 x 10.5 x 15's will fit fine but will 32 x 11.5 15's rub a lot?

31's on my 97' fit with tons of room, just ask the tire dealer if they will either;

I had 31x10.50/15 tires on my 88 with cranked torsion bars and a 3" body lift. They rubbed slightly under full lock on the street. Off roading, I tore up the bushwacker flares I have on the truck. With out at least a 3" body lift and some seriously cranked torsion bars, I would say they won't fit.

Did you get the tire, and handling package? And the offroad package. Because then you have a bigger wheel well.

The wheel wells on a Dakota equipped with the off-road package are not larger. The off-road package is a slightly stiffer suspension (2000lbs torsion bars and springs vs. 1450lbs), wider rims, A/T tires, skid plate and a Limited Slip. The body parts are the same as a truck without the package.

I have a 98 X-cab Sport with 5.5" Tuff Counrty lift and am running 35" tires with VERY VERY little rubs off road undre FULL BUMP STEER.

What tires are you running? I want to run 35's as well (35x12.5x15) and have been told by many that it's not possible. I have always been skeptical of that view, but you have now confirmed it for me. THANK YOU! If you don't mind, I have a few questions for you. What type of wheels are you running, did you have to crank the torsion bars and where are you getting the rubbing? Any help you can provide is appreciated.

Jimmy, look back a couple of months in 4wheel and offroad and there was a red durango on the cover with the 5.5 and 3 inches of body lift running 38's with just a little rub. I have been told by an offroad shop that has done a few of the Dak/Durango lifts and he is saying that 32x12.5 is the best you can do with the Rancho 3" lift. The 5.5 will allow 35's but he does not recommend doing it. The new aluminum front axle housing and shafts are not designed for the larger unsprung weight and will likely chew themselves up under the pressure of 35's. He also commented of the 2 or 3 5.5" kits he has installed, he cannot get them to align and stay aligned. Apparently, his customers are chewing up very expensive mud tires. He highly recommended the Rancho 3" kit as it retains the exact OEM geometry and his clients aren't loosing tires or complaining of the lifted truck wandering all over the road.
My dilemma is that Dodge modified the front suspension on the 2000's and the Rancho kit is not yet made to fit my 2000. I guess I will wait and I will never put a body lift on my truck.
Keep in mind also on tire sizes. Go to the manufacturer's web page and get the inflated diameter of the tires you are looking at. The Goodyears that came on my truck are 31x10.5 but are barely 30" in diameter and are at best 8" at the tread block. I test fitted some 31x11.0 swamper thornbirds and I will need to trim some plastic because of the wider tread block. some of interco's tires are actually the size they say they are and a 32" tire is actually almost 2" larger in diameter than my stock tires!!!! There is an easy way to lift an inch but my sheet metal will hate me.

My friend and I both have 2000 Quad cab 4x4's with 32x11.50's on the factory rims with no rubbing and no lift.

Hawkeye, What brand of tires are you running, I am about to swap my stock goodyears for some 32's on stock rims. I am leaning toward BFG mud tarrain or the All-tarrain. Thanks

I have BFG All-Terrains, My friend has Dunlop AT's. I have had BFG Mud And All Terrains in the past on other trucks. I like them both but personally I use the AT's now. They do better on the road, espcially in the rain here in Florida, and I can go everywhere with them that I could with the mud terrains, although with a little more driver finesse. The only exception is really deep mud, but I tend to try and find a way around it. My friend has had very good results with his Dunlops too.

31's .. u could probably go w/ 14.5's .. depending on the offset of your rims.. I would get it test fit @ what ever shop you are going to have your tires installed on anyway.
w/ 3" lift you can run 32x12.5's

I was gonna start a new post, but, I'll try asking here!
Does anyone know or have tried to fit 31x10.50-15 tires on the stock 15x7 alloy rims?!
The reason I ask is because we would like to upgrade from our 235/75-15 to bigger 31's! I believe from the factory 31's are mounted on 15x8 rims with more positive offset than our 15x7's!

I was running 32x11.50's on the 15x7 rims with no problem before my lift, so 31's will be fine as well.

Do you have any pictures of your truck with the 32s and no lift? I'm getting new tires and a body lift when I get the money but wanted to go ahead and get the 32s. Are there any clearance differences between a 97 and 2000 Dakota that I should know about?

could prolly go with full cranked T-Bars on the 88 and 30s providing you go with the stock 5.5" backspacing
i have no lift and cranked T-bars, the stock rims i could have gone with 30x9.5s, but i got new rims with the tires and and the rims have 3.5" backspacing so i could only go with tires thathave actual measurements of like 28.6" instead of 29.8" like i wanted, most of it depends on the backspacing when deciding between 235s or with the 30x9.5

UKDakota, I also attend UK. What does your truck look like. I have a black on grey 98 cc 4x4 with Tuff Country lift and 33's. I have seen other stock Dakotas around but no one else with any modifications. If you ever need help installing anything or questions e-mail me and I can try to help.
