Subject: CB locations? IP: Logged
Message: I just bought a CB and now I'm trying to figure out where to put it... I have a 99 5 speed with a bench (no console). Anyone?
How about an antenna? Where did you mount yours? How long is it and what material is it made of (steel or fiberglass)? Pics?
Thanks guys!

Message: Well, I just installed my CB. Turned out to be a clean install. I used a fender mount to an existing bolt and routed the coax thru a rubber gomet between the door hinges. The cable came out near the emergancy brake. The fuse panel is close so had a source of power. The CB itself is a Cobra 75 that has radio and controls in a slightly oversize hand mic. I mounted the junction box (provides connection points for power and antenna) just on the underside of the panel above the gas pedal. Again no grilling. The only thing left is to figure where to place the clip for the mic! I will use it some first to figure what might be comfortable.

Message: should have used a K-40 antenna. i mounted it though the roof. yeah i had to drill a 7/8 hole in the roof but it hasn't leaked in 3 years. i like the k-40 because it is a whip antenna and when you hit a tree with it, it won't break or dent the truck by pulling on the braket. it also has a quick connect if you want to pull it off.
