2wd are limited to 3 inch spring and a-arm lift and another 2" with coil spacers for 5" total
You can see a bunch of trucks on my site under the tire link on my dakota page. Their is a page for 2 and 4wd trucks. Scrolling over the pics gives a listing of lift and tire size.

Message: 2000 2wd's have no problems, its only the 2000 and 2001 4x4's that don't have a lift out yet. The changes from 1999-2000 is the rack and pinion steering instead of recirculating ball (pinion arm) steering.
Check out my page at:
www.geocities.com/cjf7148/tires2.html
You will see 2 quadcabs, one has 5" of lift and the other has 3" of lift on the suspension.
So Mickw82 you're good to go.

Message: Yeah, I've only been able to fit a 3" suspension lift for my 2002 2wd dak. The next step is new spindles, but no go! Without MAJOR modifications, 3" is as high as you can go on the 2wd for the rack and pinion. So with a 3" body lift, you can get a total of 6", which isn't bad! The extra 2" from coil spacers won't work with the 3" suspension lift (in case your wondering). The a-arms are already fully extended downward after the lift so spacers will only compress the springs more! Just my experience... ;)

Message: Yall talk about 3in suspension and 3in Body and all this stuff. What size tire can you fit on these 2wd lifted 6inch? I am wondering because I got a 1990 With a 2in coil spacer lift and a 3in body. I can barely run31x10.50's. Sucks bad. So if anyone has any comments, let me know!
Thanks,
Joe E.

Message: Don't know about your 1990 Joe, but I know on the newer models 33's are as big as you can go with 6inches. It must be the difference in design with the fenders. I did have to trim though with my 33's.

Message: Hey Tallquad, what year and what lift do you have. I met a guy with a 97 4X4 and he put the 5.5" with 33X12.5 BFG muds and had to slightly trim the plastic (honestly, I couldn't see where - must not have been much).

Message: Couldn't us 2000+up guys change our racker steering back to recirculating ball? Does anyone know what it would take? Or maybe they changed more than just steering goemetry, so it's pointless(?)
Just a thought.

Message: For those of you that have a 4x4 2000+ There is a lift available. Chris (DakotaUSA) is working on getting all of us that are members a good deal on this. I called the company and they quoted me $1,700 for the front and $260 for the rear shocks are extra Chris is going to try to get some sort of deal off of that. Once he gets a deal I'm all over it. If you guys want my full report that's not a problem I'm going to be either installing the lift my self or having a shop do it and I'll be right there taking pictures and asking questions. Then I will post all the information on my website. I knew it would only be a matter of time..
BTW the lift is a 4"-6.5" lift you can adjust the front but the rear is set at what ever. You can add a leaf or add blocks same as the pre-2000 lift. I'll be going to 4" and running 33x12.5x15's .... I think.

Message: Alright. So the prob with the lifts are the R&P and the upper A arm. There is a company, AIM who makes a coil kit w/ upper A arm, for Gen I daks. Possibly GenII also. Dont know for sure. But If I could get ahold of that 3in lift coil, and A arm, is there a chance that a 1in or 2in spacer would fit? Probably right back to the R&P problem right? Is there any way that you could get the tie rod comming outa the R&P to bend slightly like a lifted pit arm? That way the angles on the R&P and on the spindle would not be extreme, and the connection between the 2 would still be strong?
Another Idea, mentioned befre in another post. What about taking the tie rod end and replacing it from under the spindle connection to over the spindle connector. that would still leave the R&P connected to the spindle in stock local, but realieve some of the extreme angle caused by the lifts kits. Just a few desprite Ideas.
Comments on any of this craziness?

Message: I have a 2000 dodge Dakota 4X4. it has a 2" suspension lift and 4" body lift with 35" tires. I had to trim the front bumper a little and I can't over steer or my tires rub the frame. the rear tires only rub when I hit a bump or twist the body, but its only on a couple screw heads that hold the flares on.
