Message: I am new to Dakota's and have a bit of a problem. I just picked up a 93' ext cab v8 dakota and for some reason I don't have high range but I do have low. I have been wheeling it pretty heavy for about six months now and am getting tired of only having low. Do these have a vacuum switch that controls high range or is something shot. If it is a t-case problem do these Np231's have the same bolt pattern as a Jeep np231 I have a couple jeep ones laying around and have considered swapping one of them in.

Message: No vacuum CAD on a 93 Dakota. Your problem is either a linkage adjustment issue or an internal problem.
There are multiple variations of the NP231. Your Dodge has a NP231D, the Jeep is a NP231J and some GM's used the NP231C. There are differences in shaft sizes and they are not interchangeable without modification.

Message: i found out a 1995 v8 NP231 is different than a 1990 v6 NP231
shaft sizes were different and the output spline was different
