Message: hey, i just got a pair of shocks for my 98 dakota sport. Before i install them i was just wondering if there is anything i need to be careful with or watch out for. I don't want to accidently mess anything up since my 3000gt is in the shop and my truck is all i have right now. Is there a guide for installing them ( can't find my owners manual ) that would help alot. Im sittin here in my garage ready to change them right now...anyone here live in tyler texas and wanna help out haha?? Thanks

Message: Here's what the FSM says:
REMOVAL
(1) Raise vehicle and support rear axle.
(2) Remove shock absorber lower nut and bolt from the axle bracket.
(3) Remove shock absorber upper nut and bolt from the frame bracket and remove the shock absorber.
Step (1) is not necessary, but if you do step (1), you MUST support the rear axle, because when the axle is at full droop, the shocks are fully extended and carrying the axle weight.
Shock absorber upper and lower mounting bolt torque is 70 lb-ft.
