Subject: 33'' TIRES OR BUST!!! IP: Logged
Message: im really wanting 33" tires on my dakota. im not sure what brand im going to get. there are about 10 different mud terrain tires that basically have the exact same tread design. im sure some are of better quality, but who knows?
im trying to save a few bucks because im probably buying a body lift and rims, so help me out here. bfg's, procomps, wrangler m/ts, general grabbers, wild country's(les schwab, west coast company in think), and any others. what do you all think. im turning them black out, so doesnt matter about brand name.
thanks,
corey

Message: BFG first and foremost, Pro comp MT's and Goodyear MT/R's tied second. As in my other posts, I really like the traction of the X-Terrains just have to accept the few downs that come with them. When these are gone I will go back to BFG's unless I see something that REALLY makes me want to try the Goodyears.

Message: Hawkeye, I would like to see the photo of your truck with the 33's on it with only 3" of lift, body lift right? The 00' cant be lifted because of the rack steering unless you go to power steering set up and remove the rack. I have 5.5" Tuff Country lift on my 98 Dak and the 33's fit.......But can be stuffed into the wheel well when offroading. My pics can be seen on my page at www.hometown.aol.com/neohioffroad Pics on the main page.

Message: i guess i should have mentioned this before, but there is also the factor of me commuting 60 miles everyday. wear is a big factor. i do most of my offroading on sand. its the cleaner less destructive offroading. i did the mud and rock thing with my cj7. those days are over. thanks,

Message: The new BFG Mud Terrains are out now. I was quoted $141 for 33x12.50R15 tires.
Mar's statement that the Goodyear MT/R outperforms the BFG tires is a statement based totally on personal preference (right, Mar?) and any of the above mentioned tires will do the job. It all boils down to personal preference and past experience. My past experience with Goodyears tell me that I won't own another Goodyear tire. They have not held up for me near as well as BFG's.

Message: Im sorry blizzard but all the reviews that i read tells me that the goodyears are outperforming the BFGs. BFG makes a high quality tire but as far as what tire will get you through the mud easier the answer right now is GOODYEAR. The new goodyear tires hold up ok on highway driving and are far more durable then the old MTs. The sidewall has the latest anti punture technology put into them and they are a bargen.
Plus in my opinion GOODYEAR looks a lot cooler on the side of your AMERICAN truck then bfgoodrich.
But there is nothing wrong with the bfgs and as blizzard said in the above statement "they all do the job." so if you get them for a good price go for them. But the goodyear Mt/r is a hot tire with awsome reviews so if you find those i would get them.

As you can see the 33's fit nicely into the fenderwells as the pics on the rocks show.

Message: I work for Goodyear and may be a bit biased but having owned both I can say without a doubt the BFG's will not perform with the new MTR's. In the mud the MTR is awsome and on the road it wears and rides better. I am talking from experience too seeing as I have worn 3 sets of BFG's out.

Message: Goodyear MT/Rs. If you want a nice quiet road tire this is not for you. These tires rock off-road they don't slip just grab and go. but they are a bit nosy on the road such as above 60mph I can't drive with the windows open.
