Message: most 4x4 shops will charge you an arm and a leg. I've heard people claiming between 600 and 1000 dollars for the installation. I did mine myself and it wasn't too difficult, but if you've never worked on a vehicle before it might be difficult. Your best bet would be to make friends with someone who knows a little about just the basics of working on trucks or cars and ask for their help. Usually people in 4x4 clubs are pretty friendly and you can find someone who will help you if you provide a case of beer and a pizza.
Good luck...

Message: Yea I guess the big question is, is if you've ever worked on a vehicle b4. My BL is supposed to be here friday and I plan on putting it on myself. The only thing I gotta worry about is having someone at work weld the 4x4 shifter extension for me. I'm only 19 and I haven't really done that much but I'm still gonna try to tackle it. Worried...a little but hopefully It'll all work out. Wont be on til next weekend though if it comes this friday.

Message: no problemo. post a pic when you arefinished. if you had to pay to have it installed, $300 tops would a fair price, anything more than that would be a rip.

Message: $200 is a great deal for a BL install. our local off-road shop on Guam charges $70/hour for some jobs and a flat fee for others. i just had a disc brake conversion kit installed in the rear and the bill was $310 on the hourly rate, but that included the rear diff service and re-fill w/ oil and brake fluid.

Message: As mentioned earlier, the install is pretty easy with the right sockets / wrenches. I did my own in an afternoon.

I skipped the welding part, went to home depot and got an extension nut (not sure what it is really called) - I think it was metric, and bolted the shifter handle to it. No problems, but I do take care not to "JAM" it into 4hi or 4low.
