Subject: Someone help me decide!!?? IP: Logged
Message: Whats up guys................Ive got a 2004 2wd ext cab V8 dakota with the heavy duty tranny (5speed auto) and stock 3.55 gearing. Right now i have a 2" suspension and getting ready for a 3"body. Could someone tell me how bad 33's are going to kill my tranny. I have been hearing stories how 33's are robing power from the transmission. I want to put a 285-75-16 on my stock rims (which is a 33-11.50). But if it is going to cause problems then i need some guidence. Maybe 32's or 31's ????????
Thanks!!! -Robert-

Message: I have 35's on my truck and have been running them for alittle over a year. My truck is a 99' Dakota 4x4 with I beleive the 3.55's as well. No problems. In fact, I didn't see any difference in fuel mileage with the bigger tires. But...I did notice it takes alot more to get them moving when the light turns green.
No tranny probs to date though. Except for a leaky gasket..but that was before the lift/tires.
Just a side note....I bought the Hypertech tuning module, put on Headers, and my fuel consumption went from 230 miles (22 gallon tank) to 275 miles. That hypertech module has already paid for itself in the fuel I've saved. Plus..I've got alittle more horsepower now. Not to mention....it calibrated my speedometer for the bigger tires.
