Message: I have a 97 club cab with a five speed. For some reason, the interior boot around both the stick and the transfer case were removed, which makes it really loud. Also, the console now sits up about a half inch allowing heat to come in from the engine. Does anyone have any experience with fixing these problems, if so could you point me in the right direction, because it really sucks during the summer. Also, is there any way to extend the gear shift(since I lost three inches on it due to the body lift?) Thanks for the help.

Message: offrdjunkie,
I'm guessing you're talking about the thicker rubber boot/panel that seals both shifters and goes beneath the plastic trim panel with the leather boots. You're definately gonna want that. If somebody did work for you, get the peice back and install it. If you're SOL, try going to a junk yard or talking to a Dodge dealer. Not only is that piece blocking out noise and heat (and it gets damn hot down there), the first time you hit a big puddle, you're gonna with you had it.
Also, if you're console is sitting up a half inch, something's not assembled right. Even without the rubber panel underneath, the upper plastic trim should still sit neathly on the floor of the truck.
