Message: Ball joints dont click. Have you jacked up the front and turn the wheels by hand to see if you can duplicate the noise?

Message: hmmm, mine was kinda doing the same thing. do you just get clicking, or does the truck kind of get a bounce to it when the clicking starts? ive got an 01, and i know the fronts different on mine then it is on youres, but i was getting clicking and the truck would get a slight bounce to it when the clicking started. found out what it was last nite while off roading.... my front pinion screwed up and destroyed the whole front drive train. the whole thing broke loose from the frame and its gonna be hell to fix. so im thinking im gonna go straight axle. this prolly aint whats going on with youres, but just a heads up.

Message: When my 98 4x4 did that, I had a blown transfer case. It was the chain slapping the inside of the case when engaged. It sounded like just what you described.
