Subject: REAL beadlocks avail!!Street usage? IP: Logged
Message: Well, after much frustation and time trying to find black "rockcrawler" type wheels for my Dakota, which is soon to have the trailmaster 4" lift installed,i found real beadlocks made to order with the backspacing I need (3 1/8") at http://rockcrawler-mrt.com/ My main question is does anyone have experience using these on the street? I know they always say "not approved for street use" etc.. but this is because od dot/liability reasons.I want to know if they CAN be used on the street, can they be balanced etc...any info apreciated. By the way I am currently running the american racing black wheels, but the backspace will not work on the new lift.

Message: they have been available all along. all you do is buy the Lock Ring set and have it welded to a donnor steel rim.
yes, you CAN use them on the street but they'll wear out your tires in short order. the steel lock ring puts so much weight on the outside that it's impossible to ballance them on only the inner lip.
now then, if you're talking a street lock(faux lock), that's another story.

Message: OK I found what I am looking for. http://www.omfperformance.com/newproducts.htm They will add a real beadlock ring to your aluminum wheel, but the wheel will retain it's normal function. What i mean is, its a simulated Beadlock wheel, but has a real beadlock ring so it doesnt look fake. They weld the mounting ring to your existing wheel, then bolt the beadlock ring on the outside of the rim.Looks real without the hassles, street legal too...
