Message: Ultimate Goal is to get 35x12.5's on my '99 Durango....will they fit with the Tuff Country 5.5" suspension lift without a body lift?? Or would a 3" suspension and 3" body lift together be a better set up??? I'm on somewhat a tight budget, so I want to get the best for my buck...not sure which set up would be stronger and more reliable...and running on 35's would a re-gearing be necessary ( 5.2 v-8, 4x4 stock )??? My first big project, so anyones help, coments would be great.

Message: They might fit with an 8in wide wheel and the T.C. lift. May as well get a body lift also and be safe.
I had 33s on 10in wide rims on a 99 Dak. with the T.C. lift and they rubbed pretty bad , needed alot of trimming.
You will only notice the re-gearing(due to the 35s) the most on the highway. If you turn off your overdrive , it will be fine. It wants to jump in and out of overdrive with the stock gears.

Message: hey jake , iam doing the same thing with the same truck . ive done some research and iam going with a 3in body and a 3in rancho suspension , the tc lift will work alone if you use 15x8 wheels. i really dont need the height of the tc lift and body lift . plus if your going to be offroading alot most of the guys on here would recomend the rancho suspension lift because its built better. i already have the body lift on it only cost $175 and i put it on myself. they say you can fit 35s with just a body lift on a durango , but they look kinda stuffed in there. i am moving up to 4.11s to be on the safe side and for low range . let me know how it goes , i'll be putting on my suspension lift in the next week or two when i get some time.

Message: Hi everyone! I was just lucky enough to buy my first own truck/SUV !!! Itīs awesome...Itīs a 03 Durango Sport 2WD 4.7 V8 Sport and Iīm also considering a lift. I just concluded that a 3" body and suspension lift would be a safe bet, right? Do I have to consider anything special concerning the wheels, suspensions and so on, to not make the ride unsafer or more uncomfortable on the Highway then it has to be?
Iīd really appreciate if anyone can recommend me a good brand I should go with and what wheel size would be suitable??? Sorry for so many questions, but I donīt wanna invest in the wrong stuff and I donīt have anybody around who owns a truck...Thank you very much!!! Arndt

Message: I just found that with a 3" body and a 4" trailmaster suspension 35BFG's on 15x8 will not work with out cutting major metal. Unibody problems in future if you start cutting. I plan on looking into the cutting and rewelding of support bars to see if it works.

Message: Hey Jake I have a 98 Durango I have a 3" body lift and 35" MTR's on the factory wheels, all I ahd to do was a little minor trimming on the metal fender. As far as the regearing issue they recomend that you run 4:56 gears with 35". How ever I was running 3:55 gears with them for about three months

Trailmaster doesn`t make a lift for dakotas or durangos.
Also they are a body on frame construction type of vehicle , not unibody , so WTF are you talking about?

Message: Even going w/ the 3" body lift & Rancho 3" susp lift may be borderline of fitting 35" tires. I have 3" body lift and 1.75" shackle & t-bar lift and fitting 33x12.5 took some minor trimming on the front. It may be possible, but i find it hard to believe that 35x12.5 will fit on a Durango w/ only a 3" body lift unless a Hanson front bumper (or something like it) was used to help clear the front tires. Even then there would be rubbing on the rear of the front wheel well. Running 35" tire I would re-gear to probably 4.56. I am re-gearing to 4.11 in about a week & I am running 33's. My Durango searches for gears and it shouldn't be right now. I just want to keep the undo stress off the tranny. Just my $.02

Message: I have a 2002 Durango that is completely stock. It is not 4x4 it is only 2wd. I want to know if there are any kits out there that will at least level off the the front end with the back. It seems to have quite a slope to it. I am not sure if it is the 5.9L engine or if it is just designed that way by Dodge. Just going through intersections it seems to bottom out quite easily.
My goal is to just level it off and hopefully eliminate bottoming out.
Any ideas would be helpful... Besides slowing down... Would you!? Didn't think so.
Thanks...

Message: Thanks for the tips, everyone - I'm getting ready to lift my '98 Durango, and this helps. It looks like I can move up to a 33" tire if I put in just the Rancho 3" suspension lift and a wee bit of cutting - correct? I really don't want to lift more than 3", but I want the 33" tires instead of the stock 31"ers.
Will that do it?
Thanks!

Message: That will do it if you stay with the correct off-set rims. If you go with a 3.25 backspacing they will rub worse , you need to stay closer to stock , around 4-4.5 in.
You have a `98 so you could also go with the Tuff Country 5.5 in. lift for the same $$. I know you said you wanted to stay at 3 in. but you wouldn`t need to trim at all with that lift. You could also easily step-up to 35s if you wanted to.
Just a thought...

Message: Thanks, Scott - I hadn't even considered that. I guess in the back of my mind I was thinking that I could body lift later if I wanted to go with the 35's, but it makes more sense to have the 5.5" lift to begin with.
I'm not familiar with Tuff Country, though (I just saw the website), and I *do* know of Rancho, of course. Is Tuff Country a decent lift? Seems like quite a few people have it.
Thanks!
Jeff

Message: hey Macleod, i have a 99 durango with a 3 inch body lift with super swamper 33's with weld rims with 4.5 inch backspacing and the t-bars up a 1.5 inches . i went though all the options as you did the truck looks really killer and doesnt look too big or akward , i 've had a lot of complements on it . a durango is a midsized vehical making it to big looks funny . all depending on the tread on the tire will you get rubbing .

Message: hey Patrick, if iam not mistaken thats a pretty sizeable tire there i think its comparabale to a 35 or 36 inch tire . to put that size of tire on a durango you will need at least 6 inches of lift to clear those , being that yours is a 2001 you will be very limited to lifting options . in my opinion i would do a 3 inch body with a 3 inch rancho suspension with the t bars cranked 1.5 to 2 inches . me personaly i would go all suspension lift , but i dont think theres any companies out there that make anthing big enough for the newer durangos.

Message: I have a 98 4X4 Durango and have the 3" body lift and 2" shackle / torsionbar lift. I am running 33X12.5X15 Conti Mud Track on 15X10 AR 589's (I think they are 3 5/8" offset). I had to do some pretty good trimming in front and back of the wheel well and still get some rubbing at about 90% turn. But the look of the truck is awsome and I get thumbs up from other Durango owners on the road, its defenitly a head turner. I have also done medium off roading with it without problems too. The whole setup was a little over $1200. $185 for the body lift, $45.00 for the shackles and $980 for the rims and tires from Desert Rat Truck Centers in AZ. Email me (helmu@comcast.net) if you want to see pictures.
